N.Y. Yankees to Offer Fans Biometric Identity Service for Faster Stadium Entry
Yankee Stadium visitors soon will be able to avoid long security lines by registering their fingerprints with a biometric identity service used at 12 U.S. airports.
Starting Friday night against the Toronto Blue Jays, visitors to the Bronx, New York, ballpark who register — for free — with Clear will be able to use “Fast Access” entryways to get into the grounds, the Yankees said in a news release. Two other stadiums, San Francisco’s AT&T Park and Denver’s Coors Field, already use the service.
Registration will take place in a tent outside the stadium, with activation becoming immediate. Participants would need to upgrade — paying $179 per year — to use the service at associated airports, which include Dallas/Fort Worth, Las Vegas and San Francisco.
“We are continually looking to improve upon every aspect of the fan experience,” Yankees Chief Operating Officer Lonn Trost said in a statement. “Our partnership with Clear has the dual benefit of allowing us to augment our standard of security while providing better game-day service to our guests.”
Bags brought to games by fans will be screened regardless of whether they are registered in the Clear program.
The Yankees, 60-45 and leading the American League East by 5 1/2 games, are averaging 40,553 fans per home game, fourth in Major League Baseball. The Clear program also will be available for fans attending NYCFC soccer games.
