Uber Begins Operating in Richmond, Virginia
The ridesharing company Uber is launching in Richmond, Virginia.
The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports that the company began offering service in the city last Thursday.
The move comes after Virginia decided to allow Uber and Lyft to operate under a temporary agreement between the companies and the state.
That came after state officials told the companies to cease their operations in Virginia because they didn’t have the proper licenses.
Ridesharing companies use smartphone apps to dispatch drivers who use their personal vehicles to give people rides. The drivers then share the fares they collect with the companies.
