Allstate Sees Increasing Demand in Mass., Plans to Add 130 New Agents

October 10, 2013

Allstate Insurance Company announced this week it is planning to appoint more than 130 new insurance agents in Massachusetts by the end of next year. The expansion is in response to what the company described as an increasing demand in the Bay State. Allstate says it is seeing more demand for its products, especially for auto insurance policies.

The Northbrook, Ill.,-based Allstate entered the Massachusetts market in 2008 after Gov. Deval Patrick introduced managed competition in the auto insurance market that year. The company said it opened its first Massachusetts office in October 2012 and now has 19 locations with 18 agency owners in the state.

Of the 130 new insurance agents Allstate plans to appoint in Massachusetts, 30 appointments will be agency owners, with the remaining 100 as licensed sales producers.

“Allstate opened its first brick and mortar location in Massachusetts last October and has seen increasing demand since then. We target cities and areas that show growth as a part of Allstate’s broader strategy to expand our presence in Massachusetts,” said Ed Norcia, Allstate’s Northeast region strategic deployment leader.

“We are aggressively targeting qualified professionals. If they don’t have an insurance background, we’ll provide them with comprehensive education and the resources to help them get off to a solid start,” Norcia said.

Allstate also recently announced it is planning to add 455 new insurance agents in five other Northeastern states over the next year.
