FEMA’s Latest Data on Federal Assistance for N.J.’s Sandy Recovery
The Federal Emergency Management Agency this week published its latest data on ongoing federal assistance for New Jersey’s recovery from Superstorm Sandy.
As of Monday, Sept. 9, the total federal assistance for New Jersey’s Sandy recovery effort added up to $5.6 billion, which includes $3.5 billion in total National Flood Insurance Program payments made so far for policyholders in New Jersey.
The following are the latest data on federal assistance for New Jersey’s post-Sandy recovery effort as of Sept. 9:
• $3.5 billion in total National Flood Insurance Program payments made on claims to date.
• $412.3 million in FEMA grants disbursed for individuals and households (including $355.1 million for housing assistance and $57.1 million for other needs).
• $822.6 million in SBA disaster loans approved for homeowners, renters and businesses.
• $873.5 million approved in FEMA Public Assistance grants to state agencies, local communities and certain private nonprofit organizations that serve the public.
FEMA also said that so far, 261,883 people have contacted FEMA for help or information and that 126,982 housing inspections have been completed.

Those who use 711-Relay or Video Relay Services can call 800-621-3362. Individuals can ask questions about their SBA disaster home or business loan applications by calling 800-659-2955 or TTY 800-877-8339 or emailing disastercustomerservice@sba.gov.
