Ironshore International Names Marine Re Unit President in New York
Ironshore International announced that Steven W. Komis has been appointed as president of Marine Re, based in New York.
Komis will oversee the continued expansion of Ironshore’s Marine Re unit, a specialist marine reinsurance intermediary. He reports to Mark Wheeler, chief executive officer of Ironshore International.
Komis is a veteran underwriter within the specialty marine and aviation reinsurance sector. He most recently served as vice president of marine and aviation for Century Insurance, a subsidiary of Meadowbrook Insurance Groups, and was responsible for the overall management and development of those lines of business within its special risks group.
Previously, he was senior vice president with Navigators Management Company, where he managed ceded reinsurance for the ocean marine, energy and inland marine lines.
With more than 25 years experience dedicated to the ocean marine and aviation markets, he has held executive underwriting positions with leading global reinsurance entities, including Axis Reinsurance Company, Gerling Global Reinsurance Corporation of America, and Reliance National.
Marine Re provides coverages for Commercial and Pleasure Craft Hull and Machinery, Marina and Terminal Operators’ Legal Liability, Cargo, and Cargo Transit and Storage, among others, with emphasis on underwriting on a quota share basis.
Ironshore provides broker-sourced specialty property and casualty insurance coverages for varying risks on a global basis through its multiple international platforms.
