Connecticut Survey Finds Teens Often Text While Driving

Connecticut teens have acknowledged in a state survey that they talk and text on their cell phones while driving.

The biennial state survey of risky teen behavior was released on Thursday, June 7, by the state departments of Public Health and Education.

In the survey, conducted in the spring of 2011, 53 percent of high school students said they had recently talked on a cell phone and 51 percent said they had emailed or sent a text message. The state study surveyed 2,058 public high school students.

A national study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, also released Thursday, found 58 percent of teens across America acknowledged engaging in that behavior.
