Connecticut Grants Drivers Extra License Renewal Time
Connecticut drivers will have some extra time to renew their licenses and registrations as they cope with delays, power outages and storm damage from Tropical Storm Irene.
The state Department of Motor Vehicles is extending the validity of licenses, registrations, identification cards and other credentials that would have expired Aug. 27 and after.
The extension will run through Sept. 12. That’s the last day they can be renewed without being considered late.
Late fees for the documents and for emissions tests will also be waived during that period, with the fees resuming Sept. 13 for those who continue to let their renewals and tests lapse.
