New Hampshire City Probes 5 Fires as Arsons

August 10, 2011

Authorities in Manchester, New Hampshire are investigating five fires of the past week as possible arsons.

The latest occurred Monday morning when firefighters battled a two-alarm blaze that gutted a vacant apartment building on Notre Dame Avenue.

Chief James Burkush said the fire was heavy on the first floor and firefighters had work to stop it spreading to neighboring homes.

Authorities said they don’t think Monday’s blaze was related to four fires in the same neighborhood on Friday night near Central High School.

Fire department officials are telling residents to be vigilant and not give arsonists a reason to set a blaze.

There were no serious injuries related to any of the most recent fires.
