Man Arrested for Setting Massive Fire in Bronx
New York fire officials say a man has been arrested on arson charges in connection with a Bronx fire that caused $2 million in damage.
The blaze started March 22 at 122 Westchester Square in a business undergoing renovations called 21 Latin Lounge. It spread to five other businesses, causing partial collapses in many of the establishments. The three-alarm blaze required 33 FDNY units and 140 firefighters and took three hours to control.
Fire officials say 40-year-old William Crean is accused of arson and reckless endangerment. The motive is under investigation. The case will be handled by the Bronx District Attorney’s office, but Crean hadn’t been arraigned yet and there was no information on a possible attorney.
