Virginia State Police Traffic Crackdown Results in 6,800 Violations
Virginia State Police say a two-day traffic safety campaign along Interstates 81 and 95 resulted in more than 6,800 violations.
State Police conducted Operation Air, Land & Speed on Sunday and Monday.
Along I-81, troopers stopped more than 2,100 speeders and 234 reckless drivers. They arrested six drunk drivers and made 12 felony arrests.
On I-95, more than 1,300 speeders and 345 reckless drivers were stopped, as were three drunk drivers. Police also made 11 felony arrests.
There were no traffic fatalities on either interstate during the operation.
Since the operation’s inception in 2006, there have been more than 95,600 summonses and arrests along Virginia interstates.
