Arrested Rhode Island ID Thieves Stole $500K Worth of Goods

Federal prosecutors have charged four Providence, Rhode Island residents with identity theft for allegedly making more than $500,000 worth of purchases after obtaining credit cards with the stolen personal information of more than 50 victims.

A 32-count indictment unsealed Wednesday alleges that 32-year-old Eric Snead, 43-year-old Harry Gonzalez, 40-year-old Norma Danzot and 21-year-old Kenneth Muniz used the cards at casinos, car repair shops and retail stores.

Prosecutors allege that Snead obtained victims’ information, including dates of birth, social security numbers and addresses, which he used to make fake drivers’ licenses.

The defendants then allegedly used those to obtain duplicate credit cards by saying the original cards had been lost or damaged.
