‘Good Students’ in Virginia Get 15% Auto Insurance Break from GEICO
In Virginia, drivers who are full time students between the ages of 16 and 24 could be eligible for a 10-15 percent discount from GEICO.
The insurer said its discount applies if the teens meet any of these requirements:
B average prior semester
3.0 grade point average
Dean’s List or Honor Roll
Top 20% SAT scores
Top 20% PSAT scores
Home-schooled students may be eligible based on standardized exam results
“We know new teen drivers are generally higher risks, but we can now look at certain characteristics that could mean lower rates for them,” said Kirk La, assistant vice president of underwriting in GEICO’s Virginia Beach office.
