Rhode Island Agents’ Trade Group Elects Loiselle-Mongeon as President

Melanie Loiselle-Mongeon has been named president of the Independent Insurance Agents of Rhode Island.

Loiselle-Mongeon, who is vice president of Loiselle Insurance Agency of Pawtucket, becomes the youngest elected president of IIARI. It also marks the first time a father and daughter have ascended to the association’s presidency. Her father, Bob Loiselle, served as IIARI president from 1992 to 1993.

In her acceptance speech earlier this month, Loiselle-Mongeon urged her fellow younger agents to become more involved in their association, acknowledging the time commitment challenges she faces as an agency manager and mother of two children: “As a young agent myself, I am proud to be the youngest president of this association. We, as young agents, are the bridge between the past and the future of our industry.”

Loiselle-Mongeon previously served on the IIARI executive committee and chaired the education committee. She first worked as a first grade school teacher before joining the family insurance agency

Other officers elected to leadership positions are Antonio Pires, president elect; Michael T. Dacey, vice president; Myron Mitchell, national director, and Nancy Mendizabal, immediate past president.
