N.J. Agents Create Web Site to Attract College Students’ Resumes

The New Jersey Young Insurance Professionals and the Professional Insurance Agents of New Jersey Inc., are calling for college students to submit their resumes to Project Y (http://www.projectynj.org), the associations’ joint effort to generate interest in insurance professions among today’s youth.

The resumes will contribute to an online database, where potential employers can recruit new members and those seeking work can discover exciting job opportunities in the insurance industry.

“A career in insurance has endless rewards,” said Kristen Juszczak, president of the NJYIP. “The opportunity to help someone after an accident or loss is gratifying and the industry is always expanding, as the need for insurance is constant. Consequently, there is a continuous demand for educated professionals.”

Project Y is a student recruitment initiative to generate greater interest in insurance careers among youth. Its Web site has been designed to appeal to career-oriented undergraduates in New Jersey who are considering a profession in the industry.

Project Y also offers a student membership category for NJYIP; materials to attract and educate students regarding the diversity of insurance careers; and coordinated outreach efforts to colleges across the state of New Jersey.

“It is clear that the insurance industry is aging and the need to attract new blood is at an all-time high,” said Jack Lynn, president of PIANJ. “The gap between the number of professional independent agents retiring and the number entering the field is wide. Young people today are just not aware of how dynamic and rewarding a career in insurance can be, and the opportunities are endless.”

To post a resume to the online database, students can join NJYIP at the discounted membership price of $20 a year. A questionnaire and member application are available at the Project Y site and at the NJYIP site (http://www.njyip.org/resources/studentmember_brochure.pdf).
