UNH to Require Health Insurance for All Students

Starting next fall, all full-time students at the University of New Hampshire will be required to have health insurance.

School officials say the goal is to make sure students can receive medical care beyond the basic services provided by the university.

Cindy McGahey of UNH Health Services estimates that as many as 1,800 students are uninsured. The school will be offering its own health care plan for about $115 a month. It expects about 3,000 students to enroll in the plan, including students who switch from their parents’ plans.
