N.H. Council Approves Flood Property Buyout
The New Hampshire Executive Council has approved $1.2 million to buy severely flood damaged property in Alstead.
The payment through the Department of Transportation is the first portion of a $2.8 million bailout package the Legislature approved for towns damaged during the October floods.
Those towns also include Acworth, Langdon and Walpole.
The money will be used to buy property at pre-flood assessed value minus the total financial aid the owner got from insurance or in federal disaster relief.
