Ferrara Nominated to N.Y. Workers Comp Board

New York Governor George E. Pataki has nominated Nassau County Assemblywoman Donna Ferrara (R,C-Westbury) to serve as a Commissioner of the New York State Workers Compensation Board.

Ferrara’s nomination is subject to confirmation by the New York State Senate.

Ferrara will resign her seat in the State Assembly upon confirmation of her nomination to the board by the New York State Senate. She has served as a member of the New York State Assembly from the 15th Assembly District in Nassau County for more than 12 years.

Ferrara is a member of the New York State and Nassau County Bar Associations. She is also a member of the board of directors of the Adelphi New York Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline and Support Program.

Assemblywoman Ferrara holds Bachelor’s Degrees in English and Business from the State University of New York at Albany and received her J.D. in 1984 from St. John’s University School of Law.

The salary for a commissioner to the State Workers’ Compensation Board is statutorily set at $90,800. The appointment is for a seven-year term.
