N.J. Gov. Declares State of Emergency in Pair of Counties Following Heavy Rains

In response to the heavy rain falls and flooding in Burlington and Camden Counties, New Jersey Gov. James McGreevey issued an Executive Order declaring a State of Emergency for those counties – effective immediately.

“With this declaration, our State can ensure that all of our available resources are on hand and easily accessible,” the Governor said. “I want to extend my sincere appreciation and thanks to the National Guard, State Police, and first responders for continuing to place the safety of our citizens first. I will remain in constant communication with all the State support agencies regarding the affected areas. ”

The State of Emergency allows the Governor to mobilize any resources necessary in affected towns.

McGreevey will also be requesting federal assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency affected areas.
