NYSID Hosts Capital Markets Conference
The New York State Insurance Department yesterday hosted its first annual Capital Markets Conference for members of the insurance industry. Several financial experts discussed current issues relating to the capital markets that affect insurers.
The Conference, attended by over 100 industry executives, heard presentations from Gus Harris, Managing Director at Moody’s Investors Service; Jonathan Hecht from Tillinghast – Towers Perrin; Stefan Walter, Vice President for the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, and Antonio Marfia, Chief of Risk Management for the NYS Banking Department.
“The NYS Insurance Department is the first in the nation to have a Capital Markets Bureau and since its inception in 1996 it has been an invaluable tool for the Department,” stated Superintendent of Insurance Gregory V. Serio. “This first annual conference is vital to gather information from the industry as the Department’s Capital Markets Bureau becomes a more critical key player in the financial services industry in the 22nd century.”
