Delaware Senate Passes Privacy Bill
The Delaware Senate passed House Bill #205, which authorizes the insurance commissioner to adopt regulations on consumer privacy consistent with the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act.
Joseph Termini, associate counsel for the National Association of Independent Insurers, cautioned that regulators should apply a conservative approach in adopting privacy strictures and be careful not to go beyond the GLBA’s requirements.
“We believe consumers’ rights to privacy should be protected,” said Termini, but “without adding extraneous provisions that would raise the cost of insurance.”|”delaware, senate, passes, privacy, bill
