Daniel Varona to Become New York’s Deputy Superintendent
New York Superintendent of Insurance Neil D. Levin has named Daniel R. Varona a Deputy Superintendent effective immediately. Varona will oversee the activities of the department’s Life Bureau as well as coordinate various department management initiatives.
Varona joins the Department from Companion Life Insurance Company where he served as Chief Administrative Officer, Secretary & General Counsel with Life and Annuity Insurer as well as serving on the Board of Directors. He has been in the private insurance business for 20 years.
Prior to joining Companion Life, Varona was Secretary and Counsel at North Atlantic Life Insurance Company from 1987-1998, Vice-President, Secretary and General Counsel at Ideal Mutual Insurance Company from 1979-1985, and an Attorney at the Department of Insurance from 1977-1979.
