New Hampshire Considers Privacy Regulation Proposal

The New Hampshire Insurance Department has proposed financial services privacy regulation consistent with the National Association of Insurance Commissioners’ model privacy regulation.

During a hearing earlier this week, Donald Baldini, assistant vice president for The American Insurance Association, told department officials AIA supports the privacy regulation.

“These regulations will be effective but insurers will need time to do the work needed to comply,” Baldini said. “AIA is urging a speedy adoption of this regulation to give insurers the time the need to comply with the new regulations by July 2, 2001. Uniform privacy regulation among state and federal regulators will also benefit consumers by providing them consistent privacy notices and rules.
