Lead Paint Bill Passes R. I. Senate
A revised lead paint bill incorporating several critical changes recommended by the insurance industry passed the Rhode Island Senate last week. The revised bill contains two critical changes from the original version.
First, legislators clarified language dealing with the affidavit that property owners must produce to prove than an apartment or house is lead controlled, clarifying it to show that the requirements are that of a “compliance affidavit.” Second, they added language making it clear that coverage for lead risks will be by endorsement only, and not covered under the basic policy.
