Deerfield, Illinois-based Alera Group, a national employee benefits, property/casualty, risk management and wealth management firm, has appointed Bill Doucette as vice president of Human Resources and Organization Development.
Doucette will focus on uniting the best practices of Alera Group firms across the nation in the areas of human resources, talent management and organization effectiveness. He will implement unique human resources programs and policies that strengthen and support the national goals of Alera Group.
Previously vice president of Human Resources at NES Rentals Holdings, Doucette has more than 30 years of experience in the field of human resources.
MJ Insurance has added Eric Spencer and Dennis Nash to the risk management and employee benefits teams as consultants in the company’s Indianapolis, Indiana, office.
In their respective departments, Spencer and Nash will be responsible for proactively driving sales and service by providing innovative solutions to clients.
Spencer, who will specialize in the manufacturing, metals and transportation practice group at MJ, previously served as a business development associate at Protective Insurance.
Nash brings more than 25 years of experience to his new role. Prior to MJ, he served as vice president at a regional agency.

Combined Insurance in Chicago has named Sadaf Siddiqui senior vice president and general counsel. In her new role, Siddiqui will provide regulatory and legal counsel to the company.
Siddiqui comes to Combined from Chubb Canada, which she joined in 2012, supporting Chubb’s legal operations throughout Canada, as well as Combined in Canada. Prior to Chubb, Siddiqui spent times as legal counsel at other insurance companies and in private practice.
Combined Insurance provides individual supplemental accident, disability, health and life insurance products, and is a Chubb company.
Managing general agency and surplus lines broker, J.M. Wilson, has hired Brian Kane as assistant property/casualty underwriter and Kathy Gross as assistant transportation underwriter in its Arlington Heights, Illinois, office.
Kane has more than 17 years of experience in the insurance industry working as a group underwriter. His responsibilities will include assisting underwriters on a wide variety of commercial property and casualty risks, as well as quoting new and renewal business and servicing accounts for independent insurance agents in Illinois, Iowa and Nebraska.
Gross is responsible for assisting underwriters on a wide variety of commercial transportation risks, as well as quoting new and renewal business and servicing accounts for independent insurance agents in Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska and Wisconsin.
Gross has more than 10 years of experience in the insurance industry working in underwriting and claims.
Okemos, Michigan-based insurance industry software provider, NetRate Systems, has hired Jeff Lewis as director of Client Services.
Lewis has more than 15 years of industry experience, which includes heading multiple software support groups. He has also served as head of application development at an international carrier for multiple different domestic business units in its commercial insurance operation.
Lewis is responsible for NetRate’s Client Services team, which is tasked with delivering on NetRate’s commitment to outstanding customer service. He will oversee the day-to-day operations of this team, which includes efficient onboarding of new clients, project management for solution additions and changes for existing clients, and processing general support requests.
Swiss Re Corporate Solutions has appointed Jeff Summerville as head of Casualty, Financial & Professional Services North America.
Summerville will oversee the North American Casualty business in addition to his current responsibilities as the leader of Financial and Professional lines.
He succeeds Robley Moor as head of Casualty North America, who moved to the sales organization as a key account manager this past summer.
Since 2014, Summerville has managed the Financial & Professional Lines businesses in North America. He has overseen the expansion of the Management Liability, Professional Liability, Cyber and Transactional Liability businesses.
