Local CPCU Chapter Assists LA Family Housing

May 23, 2003

Volunteers from the Los Angeles Chapter of CPCU and other insurance professionals spent May 3, 2003 reading to and assisting underprivileged children with crafts for Mother’s Day. For children at the Sydney M. Irmas Transitional Living Center, located in North Hollywood, home is temporary and so is school.

Since 1983, L.A. Family Housing (LAFH), a non-profit organization, has been a leader in providing a comprehensive range of housing and social services to over 14,000 homeless and low-income families and individuals annually in the Los Angeles area. With a very high success rate, 97% of client families who complete the LAFH program never become homeless again. LAFH operates 23 facilities with approximately 1,800 beds for emergency, transitional and affordable permanent housing.
