Frenkel & Company – an EPIC Company has hired risk management and insurance professional Michael Power as a principal.

Power will be based in Frenkel’s New York, N.Y., office and report to Phil Remig, the firm’s Northeast region senior vice president of operations and sales.

Power will be responsible for new business development, management of property and casualty insurance programs and providing risk management strategies to mid-market and large clients across a range of industries, with a specialty focus on the needs of the real estate industry.

Power joins Frenkel from the New York office of Lockton Companies, where he was senior vice president and Northeast real estate practice leader. Power previously worked for Willis Towers Watson as senior vice president and New York real estate practice leader and Wells Fargo Insurance Services in New York.

Big I New York, the state’s oldest insurance producer trade organization, has appointed Scott W. Hobson as its director of government relations.

In this role, Hobson is responsible for developing and advancing Big I New York’s government relations strategy and advocacy approach. He will work with others within the organization to create and deploy advocacy plans, craft messaging and material for release to the organization’s member agents and brokers, build and maintain relationships with lawmakers and regulators and analyze relevant and proposed legislation and regulations that affect the members.

Hobson was previously manager of government affairs for the Lawsuit Reform Alliance of New York, an organization dedicated to reducing lawsuit abuse. He has also served as grassroots manager for New York and Vermont for the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network.

WKFC Underwriting Managers and CorRisk Solutions have hired Joseph Girardi as senior vice president of specialty casualty.

Girardi joins WKFC and CorRisk with more than 30 years of experience in the commercial insurance industry. Previously, he served as senior vice president for Ironshore Insurance Services, where he assisted in building the Programs division and led the division in developing and administering specialty programs across all lines of business.

He began his insurance career with AIG, where he worked from 1986 to 2001, rising from regional commercial claims representative to assistant vice president of its agency initiative. He continued his career as the vice president of marketing for AXA Corporate Solutions before joining QBE Insurance & Reinsurance Corporation as vice president of Underwriting and Programs, where he managed property, casualty and specialty lines.

Girardi took his position with Ironshore in 2009.

WKFC Underwriting Managers and CorRisk Solutions are both a series of RSG Underwriting Managers LLC. RSG Underwriting Managers is a Delaware series limited liability company and a subsidiary of Ryan Specialty Group LLC, specializing in underwriting management and other services for insurance products distributed through agents and brokers.

Everest Insurance has hired Tim Bunt to its marketing and distribution team as vice president.

In this role, Bunt is responsible for business development in the large account space. He will be based in the Everest Stamford, Conn., office and will report to Dane Lopes, head of sales, marketing and distribution management.

Bunt joins Everest Insurance from CBRE Inc., where he most recently served as senior vice president and chief risk officer. At CBRE, he oversaw risk management and was responsible for global procurement of risk financing and claims for both CBRE and client insurance programs.

Prior to joining CBRE in 2005, he was a corporate vice president at Arthur J. Gallagher, where he served as a producer and account executive focused on risk management accounts in the financial services and real estate sectors.

Earlier in his career, Bunt held numerous senior level roles in the insurance, risk management and finance space.

Alliant, a Newport Beach, Calif.-headquartered provider of property and casualty, workers’ compensation, employee benefits, surety and financial products and services, has hired Joe Clifton to its Employee Benefits Group as vice president.

Based in the company’s Fair Haven, N.J., office, Clifton will work with clients across the region to deliver customized benefits services that reduce operating costs and provide a competitive advantage for the organization.

Prior to joining Alliant, Clifton was vice president of business development for a healthcare management firm. He also has experience on the client side of the business, serving as director of benefits for Jet Aviation, a general dynamics company.
