XL Catlin has added Kimberly Hans to its Broker & Client Management team as Southeast Regional Leader.

Hans is based in Atlanta and reports to Robert Peretti, XL Catlin’s Head of Broker & Client Management in North America.

Hans joins XL Catlin from Zurich North America, where she recently served as vice president and senior broker relationship leader. She brings more than 25 years of industry experience with tenure at AIG, United Agents Insurance Company and Crawford & Company.

In her new role, Hans will be responsible for leading XL Catlin’s “go to market” strategies and activities in the Southeast region and coordinating with brokers and clients throughout the Southeast to address their multi-line property, casualty and speciality insurance needs.

XL Catlin is the global brand used by XL Group Ltd’s insurance and reinsurance companies which provide property, casualty, professional and specialty products to industrial, commercial and professional firms, insurance companies and other enterprises throughout the world.

Charlotte, N.C.-based AmWINS Group, Inc., a global distributor of specialty insurance products and services, has appointed Kristin L. Downey as chief administrative officer, effective immediately.

Downey will be responsible for leading the firm’s human resources, training and development, marketing, and communications functions. She will also lead the company’s philanthropic efforts, including the recently formed AmWINS Foundation.

Downey has served as executive vice president of Human Resources since 2002 and recently took over responsibility for the group’s marketing and communications team.

AmWINS Group Inc. is an independent wholesale distributor of specialty insurance products serving retail insurance agents by providing property and casualty products, specialty group benefit products and administrative services.

John Canonico, owner of Brightway, Oviedo-Winter Springs in Oviedo, Fla., and a Brightway Insurance Agency owner for the past six years, has teamed up with his son, Michael Canonico, to open Brightway, The James Island Agency in Charleston, S.C.

John Canonico opened Brightway, Oviedo-Winter Springs in 2012, and has built his agency into one of the top 25 percent highest producing agencies in the Brightway system, according to Brightway.

Prior to joining Brightway, John worked in real estate, transportation and served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Michael Canonico brings five years of insurance experience, including two years at his father’s agency.

Brightway, The James Island Agency offers customized home, condo, renters, auto, flood, RV, motorcycle, boat, ATV, umbrella and life insurance policies from numerous insurance brands such as Bankers, Cabrillo Coastal, Foremost, Progressive, Safeco and Universal Property and Casualty.

Brightway is a national property/casualty insurance retailer selling through a network of franchised independent stores throughout the country.

Turbeville Insurance Agency (TIA) of South Carolina has hired Jack Godbold to the company’s executive team as the Small Commercial Lines director. In this role, Godbold will also oversee many of TIA’s high valued homeowner policies.

Godbold comes to the agency with a 28-year background in the insurance industry. His career began in insurance software development with PMSC. He then shifted to the role of an insurance agent in 2002. He was most recently employed by HUB International.

Insurance Office of America (IOA) has hired industry veteran Phillip Lane to its team as it expands its locations in Brevard County, Fla. Lane joins the team as a risk management consultant.

Prior to joining IOA, Lane was a producer at J.W. Edens Insurance in Indialantic, Fla. There, he led the commercial lines department in new commercial insurance business development and retention for well over a decade. His clients included industry leaders in contracting, manufacturing, banking, technology and professional services.

Lane began his risk management career working as a certified child protective investigator with the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF).
