Marsh & McLennan Agency LLC (MMA), the middle market agency subsidiary of Marsh, appointed Moroni Rodrigues chief financial officer for the Southwest Region.

Rodrigues will oversee the finance, treasury and accounting operations of MMA Southwest, which has offices throughout Texas and Louisiana.

A certified public accountant (CPA), Rodrigues is fluent in Portguese, Spanish and English, and is proficient in Mandarin.

Prior to joining MMA, he worked for Black & Decker in a series of positions with increasing responsibility. Most recently, he was controller at Black & Decker’s Dallas-Fort Worth facility. Before that, he worked for Deloitte LLP.

Desiree Binion has joined managing general agent and wholesale insurance broker, RPS, in the company’s Dallas office as an underwriter/broker.

Binion was previously with Markel Mid South and most recently, Travelers. She was recipient of the FIWT Community Service Award in 2017, Joe D. Hefner Insurance Award Recipient, Dallas Chapter CPCU Scholarship Award Recipient, Insurance Council of Texas Scholarship Award Recipient, and a DFW Chapter RIMS Scholarship Award Recipient.

Myron Steves has named Becky Thomson to its executive team.

As director of healthcare, Thompson provides oversight to the healthcare and educators liability departments. She has been responsible for managing account and client relationships, negotiating contracts with the insurance market place, educating internal staff and external clients and developing solutions that address the risk exposure of healthcare clients.

She has worked with a retail agency managing and marketing healthcare professional liability accounts. Previous experience in the healthcare field includes managing a group of optical clinics across multiple states.

Debra Knight has been appointed deputy commissioner of Compliance and Investigations at the Texas Department of Insurance Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC).

C&I monitors compliance and investigates fraud and administrative violations. It is also responsible for enforcement efforts, and criminal prosecutions through DWC’s embedded prosecutor unit in the Travis County District Attorney’s office.

Knight is an accomplished attorney with 22 years of experience. She has been with the Texas Department of Insurance since 2013 as director for the Policy Development Counsel, and most recently associate commissioner for Legal.

Knight has served in the United States Army Reserve, doing tours in Iraq and Ethiopia and retiring with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

Dallas-based Texas All Risk General Agency Inc. and Select General Agency LLC promoted Binh Nguyen to personal lines manager.

Nguyen will oversee underwriting and customer service for Texas All Risk homeowner’s programs and Select General Agency’s private passenger auto program. He came to Texas All Risk and Select General in 2016 after six years as an auditor with Old American County Mutual. Prior to OACM, Nguyen worked in claims with Amerisure and Progressive.

Nguyen has served Texas All Risk and Select General as a business development professional building strong relationships with agents.

Little Rock, Arkansas -based Stephens Insurance LLC hired Chris Hawkins as senior vice president, Robert Mann and John Rhodes as vice presidents, and Kevin Yandell as claims coordinator. All four are located in Texas.

Based in Austin, Hawkins will lead the firm’s automotive risk management services and brings more than 16 years of insurance expertise specializing in automotive dealers, manufacturers and car rental operators. Prior to joining Stephens, Hawkins was a senior vice-president with Arthur J. Gallagher’s Automotive Practice.

Mann joins Stephens’ Houston office after 16 years in operational management and business development in the construction industry. He will play a key role in building relationships among contractors and real estate companies in support of the firm’s commercial lines business. Recently, Mann served as development manager at Patrinely Group LLC.

Rhodes will support new business development and growth initiatives in Texas. Previously, he spent six years with AmWins Group Inc. assisting in the production and placement of complex energy property risks. Rhodes is based in Austin.

Yandell has 15 years of combined experience in managing a multiline claims department, loss analysis, and the many aspects of administering workers’ compensation and commercial property claims. Yandell comes to Stephens from Texas Association of Counties where he was a property claims supervisor. He joins the Austin office.
