James Anderson has assumed the role of executive vice president and chief financial officer at Chicago-based commercial insurer, CNA.
He succeeds D. Craig Mense, who has been CFO since 2004 and will retire at the end of the year.
Anderson, who most recently served as senior vice president and head of Financial Planning and Analysis and Corporate Development, joined CNA in 2012.
Before joining CNA, Anderson spent nearly a decade in investment banking focused on the insurance industry, ultimately as a managing director at Macquarie Capital. That experience followed five years of consulting at Eli Lilly and Accenture.
Cincinnati, Ohio-based Great American Insurance Group promoted Mark V. Vicario to divisional senior vice president of its Bond Division. In this role, he will oversee the division’s Claims department.
Vicario began his career with Great American in 1994 and has served as divisional vice president since 2004. He has over 35 years of industry experience.
Vicario is a member of the American Bar Association, the National Bond Claim Association and the Surety Claim Institute.
