Darrick Lee, a licensed attorney in both Louisiana and Texas, has been appointed fraud manager in the Office of Workers’ Compensation Administration (OWCA) at the Louisiana Workforce Commission.

Lee has 13 years of civil service experience. Prior to this appointment, he presented claims before the OWCA Second Injury Board and provided legal advice to its members. Additionally, he litigated cases before the Workers’ Compensation Courts.

He a member of the GAME-ON (Government Against Misclassified Employees Operational Network) task force, an interagency network made up of members of the Louisiana Workforce Commission’s (LWC) Unemployment Insurance and Office of Workers’ Compensation Administration divisions and the Louisiana Department of Revenue. The task force also collaborates with the IRS and the U.S. Department of Labor’s (DOL) Wage and Hour Division.

Lee established a successful track record as a mediator in OWCA District I East, resolving more than 60 percent of the cases he mediated. His experience also includes litigation for daycare licensing revocation and bringing Risk Evaluation Panel cases before Administrative Courts.

During his tenure as an attorney with the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS), he offered legal counsel regarding EEOC claims and Employment Law litigation. He also served as an attorney with the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals (DHH.

Lee speaks frequently on issues concerning workers’ compensation fraud.

Brown & Riding Insurance Services Inc. hired Ryan Pike as a property broker in its Dallas office.

Pike specializes in placing difficult manufacturing as well as Property and Inland Marine risks in the oil and gas sector. He in an expert on heavy manufacturing risks that have challenges due to the complexity of their operations and the exposures (e.g.: fiberglass, fracking fluid, fertilizers, fumicides, plastics, hazardous chemicals, etc.).

In the oil and gas vertical, Pike has expertise in fixed site property, contractors’ equipment, oil lease property, rig physical damage and salt water disposal wells.

Alliant Insurance Services, based in Newport Beach, California, added Brett Morris in New Orleans as senior vice president in the company’s Employee Benefits Group.

Prior to joining Alliant, Morris was senior vice president with a large regional insurance and employee benefits firm servicing clients with both regional and national operations.

Everest Insurance, a subsidiary of Everest Re Group Ltd., hired Jessica Mann as vice president, commercial surety lead, working in the company’s Houston office.

Mann will lead Everest’s Commercial Surety expansion.

Mann was most recently at Aspen where she worked as a vice president of Commercial Surety. She has 10 years’ experience in underwriting and managing this specialized market segment.
