Hanover Stone Solutions, an advisory firm providing risk consulting services to U.S. property/casualty and life insurance companies, has appointed Joanne Morrissey and Gary Dubois as senior advisors based in New York City.

The executives will have roles in the firm’s recently formed Strategic Planning Consulting practice, which helps insurance executives identify, evaluate and capitalize on their company’s key opportunities for growth and sustainability.

Morrissey, co-leader of the Strategic Planning practice along with Donna Galer, has advised corporations on strategic and financial matters for more than two decades. After beginning her career with The Hartford Insurance Group, she joined Crum & Forster and held management positions in Claims, Human Resources, Training, Administration and Operations. Later, she was co-founder, president and chief operating officer of The Firemark Group, providing strategic and financial consulting to the insurance industry. She also was interim CEO of an insurer undergoing rehabilitation in Florida and chaired the Insurance Sub-Committee of the Finance Board of New Mexico.

Dubois has worked with property/casualty insurance companies on their business development through GND Resources LLC, a consultancy he established in 2016. Previously, he was founder and president of Pioneer Special Risk Insurance Services Inc., a program manager focusing on U.S. and international specialty lines of coverages. Prior to that, he served on the executive committee at Crum & Forster and was CEO and president of Seneca Insurance Group. He was also the founder, CEO and president of Valiant Insurance Group, and held a series of management positions with Liberty International Underwriters, Reliance National and CNA.

Hanover Stone Solutions provides enterprise risk management, strategic planning and other advisory services to property/casualty and life insurance companies throughout the U.S. As an affiliate of Hanover Stone Partners, the firm works with insurers to develop, assess and realign risk-based decision-making processes.

EPIC Insurance Brokers and Consultants, a retail property/casualty insurance brokerage and employee benefits consultant, has hired John Check as a senior consultant in the firm’s Employee Benefits Consulting Division.

Check will be based in EPIC’s Pittsburgh, Penn., office and report to Eric Hays, regional director of Employee Benefits, who is responsible for building and leading EPIC’s Employee Benefits Consulting Practice. EPIC Pittsburgh provides employee benefit consulting, property and casualty insurance, surety and risk management solutions to clients located across Western Pennsylvania and the country.

In his new role, Check will be responsible for new business development and client consulting, acquiring and providing employee benefits consulting to clients across a range of industries.

Prior to joining EPIC, Check spent 25 years with Pittsburgh’s Seubert Associates, where he most recently served as vice president and executive director of benefits.

The Concord Group Insurance Companies, located in Concord, N.H., has added Sue Greene to its Massachusetts marketing team as a senior marketing representative.

Greene spent the past 18 years with an insurance carrier in Massachusetts, most recently as a business development representative in the Central Massachusetts territory and previously as a senior personal lines underwriter.

The Concord Group, celebrating its 90th anniversary this year, affiliated with Auto-Owners Insurance Company in 2017 and has since expanded growth efforts in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts through expanded products, services, underwriting appetite and the addition of key personnel such as Greene. The Concord Group plans to secure a branch office in the Metro-West region of the state later this year, which will house Claims, Underwriting and Marketing personnel.

Alliant Employee Benefits has hired Beth Phares as senior vice president.

The Richmond, Va.-area consultant will work with clients throughout the Eastern region to deliver strategic employee benefits solutions that address both the physical and financial health of the organization.

Phares joins Alliant with experience in medical, dental, life and disability insurance. She has dual expertise in fully-insured and self-insured funding approaches and in the employee benefits due diligence process for mergers and acquisitions. Phares also has expertise in cost containment, financial analysis and overall program optimization.

Prior to joining Alliant, Phares was senior vice president within the Virginia practice of a national insurance brokerage and employee benefits consulting firm. While there, she serviced clients with both regional and national operations.
