The Main Street America Group, a super-regional property/casualty insurance company, has promoted Darryl Osman to vice president of personal lines.

Osman remains based at the company’s home office in Jacksonville, Fla., and reports to Dan Gaynor, the company’s chief underwriting officer.

In his new role, Osman will be responsible for continuing to drive personal lines growth, including the rollout of Main Street Protection Auto in additional states in 2018, Gaynor said. Main Street Protection Auto is currently available in 13 states: Arizona, Connecticut, Georgia, Maine, Maryland, New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vermont and Virginia.

Osman joined Main Street America in 2011 as a personal lines product manager and was promoted to director of personal lines product management and market research in 2015. In 2016, he was promoted to assistant vice president. Prior to joining Main Street America, Osman was a product management director at Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company, Chicago. He also held product management roles at Zurich North America in Schaumburg, Ill., and Allstate Insurance Co. in Northbrook, Ill.

Orchid Underwriters Agency, LLC, a specialty underwriter of catastrophic coastal insurance, hired Andrew Cyran as chief underwriting officer – a new position within the organization. He is based in the company’s Vero Beach, Fla., office.

Cyran assumes the responsibilities of carrier management, product development, underwriting portfolio management, senior leadership mentoring and leading strategic initiatives for the entire organization. He will work closely with internal business unit leaders to optimize carrier relationships and growth strategies, while maintaining Orchid’s commitment to underwriting practices.

Cyran’s industry experience spans more than 35 years. Prior to joining Orchid, he was the executive vice president at Alliant Specialty. Previous roles also include: head of North America Property for QBE and chief underwriting officer for Ace Westchester.

Founded in 1998 and based in Vero Beach, Fla., Orchid specializes in providing specialty insurance products for homeowners and small businesses throughout the United States and the Caribbean. The company’s product offering for homeowners and condominium property insurance includes: wind and wind-only; general and excess flood; earthquake; builder’s risk and others.

Alabama-based Alfa Insurance’s Executive Vice President of Operations Steve Rutledge retired Feb. 1 after more than three decades of dedicated service.

Rutledge began his career with Alfa in 1984 as a securities analyst following four years with Ernst & Young. He later served as Alfa’s chief financial officer and senior vice president of Investments before being named executive vice president.

Rutledge helped protect Alfa’s financial strength through numerous challenges, including Hurricane Ivan, Hurricane Katrina and the April 27, 2011, tornadoes. He was also the chief architect of Alfa’s reinsurance program, limiting the company’s exposure to catastrophes.

According to Alfa President Jimmy Parnell, Rutledge also currently serves on the Property and Casualty Insurers Association of America’s Board of Governors.

During Rutledge’s tenure, Alfa has seen its investment portfolio grow from less than $1 billion to more than $3 billion. He was also instrumental in the company’s acquisition of Alfa Alliance and Trexis (formerly Alfa Vision), helping bring the Business Processing Center to the Montgomery campus and transitioning Alfa’s property and casualty systems to Guidewire.

Alfa and its affiliates provide insurance and other financial services in 11 states.

Brentwood Services Administrators Inc. (BSA), headquartered in Brentwood, Tenn., has added Deanna Nicole Anderson as a claims assistant in its occupational injury unit in the Brentwood office, according to Jeff Pettus, president and chief executive officer of Brentwood Services Administrators Inc.

Reporting to Vicky Mimms, support staff supervisor, Anderson is responsible for processing and handling the first point of contact information regarding the handling of occupational injury indemnity claims. She works directly with the adjuster, clients, employers, injured workers and physicians regarding management of claims.

Anderson is returning to BSA after serving in customer service and office-management related positions in the area marketplace. Previously, she was a receptionist for Brentwood Services Administrators.

Brentwood Services Administrators Inc., a third-party administrator, provides claims management and loss control services to employers and employer associations for workers’ compensation and other casualty lines throughout the contiguous 48 states.
