David Kramer and Theodore Nittis have launched Gemini Risk Partners as an independent professional liability insurance brokerage in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.

The firm will focus on serving law firms, as it did when it was a division of the Oswald Companies. In addition to malpractice coverage and risk management services, Gemini will provide recommendations on appropriate coverage and program structure, claims assistance, insurance coverage counseling, and law firm operations consulting.

Both Kramer and Nittis are lawyers and were formerly employee-owners at Oswald Companies. The pair will continue their affiliation with Oswald for certain insurance business.

Chicago-based Combined Insurance, a Chubb company, named Kevin Goulding as its new president.

Prior to joining Combined, Goulding served as regional president for Chubb Life, Asia Pacific. Before joining Chubb, Goulding served in various leadership roles with AIG, including president and chief executive officer, China.

J.M. Wilson hired Taylor James as assistant property/casualty underwriter in its Westerville, Ohio, office.

James is responsible for assisting underwriters on a wide variety of property and casualty risks, as well as quoting new and renewal business and servicing accounts for independent insurance agents in Ohio, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Virginia.

Before joining J.M. Wilson, James was a finance representative at Western and Southern Life.

J.M. Wilson is a managing general agency and surplus lines broker with offices in eight states.

Chicago-based ISMIE Mutual Insurance Co., a provider of medical professional liability insurance services, promoted Edward J. Carroll JD to vice president of Underwriting.

Carroll joined ISMIE Mutual in early 2017 as director of Underwriting – New Segments, and focused on product development, distribution management, implementation of rating and pricing models, and underwriting for ISMIE’s expansion strategy. During his tenure, the subsidiary ISMIE Indemnity acquired business in a dozen new states.

Carroll began his insurance career at Chubb Specialty Insurance in 2000 and departed as a senior underwriting officer in 2012. Prior to joining ISMIE, he was director of Underwriting at Connecticut-based CMIC, a medical professional liability insurer.

Chicago-based Ryan Specialty Group (RSG) promoted Reza Khan to chief executive officer and president of ThinkRisk Underwriting Agency and CorPro Underwriting Managers. Kahn previously served as executive vice president for both entities and has been with ThinkRisk since 2011.

Kahn has 35 years of insurance experience. He began his career as an underwriter at American International Group (AIG) and held subsequent executive positions at the Berkeley Group (Aon Affinity), Media/Professional Insurance, Darwin Professional Underwriters and Allied World.

ThinkRisk is a managing general underwriting facility specializing in professional lines, management liability, content, data security and privacy insurance products and services to a wide variety of businesses. CorPro is a managing general underwriter acting as AIG’s underwriting facility for small to mid-market private and non-profit management liability programs.

ThinkRisk and CorPro are part of RSG Underwriting Managers LLC, a subsidiary of Ryan Specialty Group.

Kansas City-based global insurance broker Lockton appointed Debbie Goldstine executive vice president and U.S. casualty leader. In this expanded role, Goldstine will support Lockton clients and advise associates and clients on marketplace and emerging risk trends.

Goldstine is a 20-year industry veteran and has been with Lockton for 12 years. She most recently was senior vice president and U.S. excess casualty practice leader. Prior to joining Lockton, she was with CNA and Allstate.

Attorney and claims specialist Jennifer Groszek joined the ProQuest division of Alliant Insurance Services as vice president, claims advocate lead, where she will provide risk management, consulting, and claims management and resolution services to a broad array of clients across the U.S.

Based in Chicago, Groszek joins Alliant with extensive expertise advising in complex claims for clients ranging from large, multinational corporations to regional and community operations. She has more than 15 years of experience as an attorney, claims specialist and business consultant.

Prior to joining ProQuest, Groszek was a claims consultant and attorney managing high-exposure D&O and E&O liability claims.
