Boca Raton, Fla.-based Universal Insurance Services, LLC, a subsidiary of Vanbridge, LLC, has added Jamie Lorentz to the firm as an analyst for Corporate and Institutional Insurance.

Lorentz joins Universal from HilltopBancSystems, where he served as vice president of portfolio strategy and business development for depository institutions.

Lorentz has worked with customers across several industries including: banks, insurance companies, asset managers, manufacturers, real estate investment trusts, hedge funds and more.

Lorentz began his career as an associate for PNC Capital Markets, where he spent time as part of the Financial Institutions Group, Fixed Income, Derivatives, and Foreign Exchange Sales and Trading functions.

Universal Insurance Services is a life insurance and financial advisory distribution firm.

Pioneer Underwriters has appointed Kellie Reese as an underwriter in its recently launched E&S Property operation. She will report to Dave Phillips, based in Alpharetta, Ga.

Reese has almost 30 years of experience as a property underwriter. Latterly with The Hartford, having previously been with Fireman’s Fund and ACE.

Pioneer’s Property E&S operation writes exclusively on a non-admitted basis, offering both primary and excess layers. A broad spectrum of classes is covered, including commercial real estate, bank schedules, hospitality, manufacturing, entertainment and habitational (excess only) business. The team writes all types of covers including all risk, DIC and specified perils.

According to Philips, head of E&S Property at Pioneer, Reese will help grow and build Pioneer’s capability in the Property E&S arena.

Pioneer Underwriters, the underwriting group within Minova Insurance Holdings Ltd, trades as both a risk carrier and MGU with full delegated underwriting authority in more than 120 Lloyd’s class codes.

In the U.S., Pioneer operates via its offices in New York, Atlanta, Chicago and Philadelphia via a network of retail and wholesale brokers.

It is focused on specialty risk products, including E&S casualty, financial products, diversified financial services, securities broker-dealers, allied healthcare, environmental liability and specialty contractors.

Paul Grassi has joined Alliant’s Alliant Americas division as senior vice president where he will work to provide a full range of insurance and risk management products to clients in the financial sector. Grassi will focus on firms throughout the Eastern United States, operating out of Orlando and New York.

Grassi joins Alliant with three decades of financial sector experience. Over his career, he has serviced clients including hedge funds, FoHFs, mutuals, venture capital and private equity firms and their portfolios with both on-shore and off-shore operations.

Prior to joining Alliant, Grassi was senior vice president and Sales executive leader in the Tampa office of a national insurance and a financial services firm.

As a practice leader, Grassi managed a range of client relationships, provided strategic insurance and risk management services and created synergies between the organization’s insurance and finance arms to grow revenue and expand reach.

Lockton has added Brett Gillmon to its Property team as senior vice president. Gillmon will serve as a national resource, working closely with U.S. Property leader Mike Andler, and will provide service and property options for Lockton’s clients throughout the U.S. with a focus on the Southeast.

Gillmon joins Lockton after a 20-year career at Marsh, most recently as managing director leading its Southeast Property team. This included work in London, New York, Dubai and Atlanta.

Gillmon’s expertise includes the placement and servicing of complex global property insurance programs.

In his new role at Lockton, Gillmon will advise clients on managing their property risk to meet their business goals. He has particular expertise in the implementation of global programs and has extensive experience across a number of industry sectors which include manufacturing, hospitality, real estate and retail.

Gillmon is based out of Lockton’s Atlanta office.
