Hub International Limited (HUB), a global insurance brokerage, has expanded its New York operation through the addition of entertainment specialist Cameron Smith, who joined the firm as senior vice president.
Smith has spent 20 years in the concert industry, working as a festival director, talent buyer, concert promoter and venue manager. He transitioned to the insurance industry in 2011. In his new role, he offers specialized knowledge in commercial property, casualty and contingency insurance, coupled with his music industry background.
Smith will continue to help entertainment businesses control their cost of risk and will be instrumental in expanding the company’s footprint in New York. Prior to joining HUB, he was a vice president at Ascend Insurance Brokerage and a commercial insurance broker at Doodson Broking Group.
B.F. Saul Insurance, a Bethesda, Md.-based regional insurance brokerage and risk advisory firm, announced that Jason Jones has joined the firm as president.
Jones will oversee an expansion of the company’s platform and mission in this role. Prior to joining B.F. Saul Insurance, Jones was a senior vice president with Lockton Companies, where he led the financial services practice and was involved in the formation of the Washington, D.C., office in 2005.
With his previous experience in growth and expansion, Jones plans to broaden the company’s position in the marketplace.
In the future, the brokerage intends to focus on the development of its associates to achieve their professional potential and to expand its technical expertise and service capabilities to enable its clients to achieve their key business objectives, Jones said in a company press release. The brokerage wants to attract clients and new associates that believe in its vision for the business, he added.

NBT Bancorp Inc., a financial holding company headquartered in Norwich, N.Y., has hired Tucker Lounsbury as president of NBT-Mang Insurance Agency.
Lounsbury has 22 years of experience in the insurance industry. He comes to NBT from M&T Insurance Agency, where he was responsible for the Northeast commercial insurance production and service teams.
Lounsbury started his career with Great American Insurance Company (GAIC) as a commercial lines production underwriter and management trainee in 1995. In 1999, he became an insurance broker and agency owner in Central New York. In 2003, he sold the Lounsbury Insurance Agency to M&T Bank, which served as the hub for M&T Insurance Agency’s Syracuse regional office.

Paul James has been appointed to the role of president and chief executive officer of Insurance Recovery Group Inc. (IRG) by David A. Jollin, IRG’s chairman of the board.
IRG is a national subrogation, second injury fund, cost of living adjustment recovery and cost containment company operating in the property and casualty insurance industry. It is based in Framingham, Mass., and encompasses property and liability, automobile and trucking, fidelity and surety, and workers’ compensation.
As the new leader of IRG, James will be charged with growing the company’s operations, building on IRG’s 20-year record of industry leadership in insurance recovery and subrogation. Jollin stated in a company press release that James’ expertise in business development strategies, along with his experience spanning various sectors in the insurance industry, will be a strong asset to the firm. Jollin added that he sees opportunities to expand subrogation services and capabilities to insurers, reinsurers, self-insurers, insurance syndicates, third-party administrators, managing general agents, captives and independent adjustment companies. One of the key priorities for James in his new role will be not only continuing IRG’s growth momentum over the last decade, but also growing the Insurance Subrogation Group (ISG), a division of IRG.
James has more than 25 years of experience in the insurance industry. Most recently, he served as assistant vice president at Hanover Insurance Group. Prior to that, he was regional sales director for Travelers of Massachusetts. For many years, he was an owner of Steffon, James and Finnegan Insurance Agency Inc., where he was the president and sales director.
