Former Florida State Senator John M. McKay has been appointed to the Citizens Property Insurance Corporation Board of Governors by Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis, according to an announcement from the Florida Department of Financial Services.

McKay succeeds former board member, Juan Cocuy, for a three-year term ending July 31, 2020.

McKay, of Bradenton, Fla., is president of The Riverside Real Estate Company. He brings more than 35 years of real estate and property management experience to the board of governors.

McKay served in the Florida Senate from 1990-2002, also serving as Senate President from 2000-2002.

Beazley has appointed Santiago Jaramillo as engineering focus group leader for the U.S. and Latin America, based in Miami, reporting to Colin Rose, Beazley’s head of construction and engineering.

Jaramillo has more than 20 years’ experience in construction, engineering and heavy industry. He will be responsible for building Beazley’s portfolio in the U.S., with the builders’ risk teams in San Francisco and Atlanta reporting to him starting August 1. Jaramillo will also be supported by an additional underwriter in Miami, Beazley’s hub for its Latin American business.

According to Rose, Jaramillo will play a pivotal role in the development of its specialist construction and engineering portfolio in both the U.S. and in Latin America where the company has “ambitious plans to grow.”

Beazley lines of business include professional indemnity, property, marine, reinsurance, accident and life, and political risks and contingency business.

Georgia District 9 State Senator and Vice President of Hood Insurance Agency in Lawrenceville, Ga., P.K. Martin was elected by members of the Professional Insurance Agents Southern Alliance to serve as chairman.

Originally founded in 1937 as the Mutual Insurance Agents of Georgia, PIA provides leadership and direction to more than 120,000 insurance agents in Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi.

Hood Insurance Agency is a family owned agency that provides a variety of insurance services including commercial, personal auto, homeowners, and life insurance with more than 50 nationally recognized carriers.

Martin serves the people of Senate District 9 in the Georgia State Senate. He is the vice chairman of the Higher Education and the State and Local Governmental Operations Committees. He is secretary of the Insurance and Labor Committee and a member of the Senate’s Transportation Committee.

The PIA three-state Southern Alliance was launched in March 2017.

INSUREtrust has added Hannah Hoeflinger to the company as Professional Lines broker.

In this role, Hoeflinger will further grow INSUREtrust’s multi-city Cyber Boot Camps, build broker relations, and manage cyber, tech, and MPL accounts. She will be working on Executive Vice President Christiaan Durdaller’s team.

Hoeflinger joins INSUREtrust’s brokerage team with experience in underwriting in

the cyber risk insurance industry. Previously, she was an underwriter at Endurance Specialty Holdings Ltd. for two years. She focused on cyber insurance, technology errors and omissions insurance (tech E&O), and miscellaneous professional liability (MPL) insurance.
