The Arbella Insurance Group, a Quincy, Mass.-headquartered regional property and casualty insurance company, has promoted Ellen Mann to assistant vice president of human resources.

Reporting to Gayle O’Connell, executive vice president, Mann will oversee Arbella’s human resources strategy, including talent recruiting and retention as well as strengthening company culture.

Mann, whose human resources experience spans more than 25 years, began her career at Putnam Investments. Since joining Arbella in March 2007 as senior human resources business partner, she has taken on increasing levels of responsibility. By 2014, she advanced to director of human resources, making contributions to Arbella’s human capital strategy.

The Arbella Insurance Group provides personal and business insurance in Massachusetts and Connecticut, and business insurance in Rhode Island and New Hampshire.

Hospitality Insurance Group President ​and CEO John W. Tympanick has announced his 2018 retirement after 26 years with the Southborough, Mass.-based company.

Starting​ with ​the company as a​ controller in 1991, Tympanick was promoted to chief financial officer in 1993 and then president and CEO in January 2005.

During his time at Hospitality Insurance Group, Tympanick helped to create a regional multi-line insurance company from its beginnings as a single line, mono-state JUA (joint underwriting association).

Hospitality Insurance Group provides commercial insurance coverage to businesses located in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Vermont through the independent agency system.

Boston Insurance Brokerage (BIB), a Boston, Mass.-based national wholesale brokerage offering commercial insurance solutions, has promoted John Roderiques to associate vice president of its workers’ compensation division and Cara Treen to account executive.

In their new roles, Roderiques and Treen will work to grow BIB’s workers’ compensation division while continuing to provide service and creative solutions to clients. Initially, Roderiques will focus on growing the business in the New England region. He will also work with agents to provide solutions for their workers’ compensation risks.

Previously, as an underwriter in the workers’ compensation division Treen supported agents to evaluate risks and bind insurance for their clients. In her new role, she will work closely with agents to protect their clients’ employees.

Venture Programs, a national insurance program administrator based in West Chester, Penn., has added Brian Rawlings as senior underwriter to support FITLIFE, its new program for fitness, wellness and spa services.

As senior underwriter, Rawlings will be responsible for building relationships to develop and grow FITLIFE, as well as help distinguish the program’s products and services from its competition. The new program provides a variety of insurance products and services for health clubs, tennis/racquet clubs, athletic clubs, gyms, dance studios, destination and day spas, aerobics, mind-body, pilates, fitness franchise operations and other niche fitness studios.

Rawlings comes to Venture from the Cincinnati Insurance Company, where he worked as national program director. There, he oversaw the company’s fitness business. He also spent time as a production underwriter and senior underwriter for commercial lines.

Venture Programs is a program manager that designs, underwrites and distributes industry-specific insurance packages. It provides specialty insurance packages for select vertical industries, including golf and country clubs, resorts, hotels, hunting and fishing lodges and city and social clubs, as well as commercial marine, fitness and spa facilities and hard-to-place property risks.

Willis Towers Watson, a global advisory, broking and solutions company, has hired Tom Pipala as client advocate in its real estate and hospitality practice, which is part of its corporate risk and broking business. Based in New York, Pipala will report to Paul Cicerchia, real estate and hospitality practice leader for the Northeast region.

In his new role, Pipala will be responsible for business development in the New York metro region and for delivering risk management and broking capabilities to clients in this sector. He will focus on enhancing the company’s value proposition through the company’s centers of excellence, which serve as dedicated broking platforms featuring specialized industry expertise.

Pipala has 15 years of experience in the insurance and risk management industry. Prior to joining Willis Towers Watson, he served as managing principal at Integro Insurance Brokers.
