San Antonio-based managing general agent and excess and surplus (E&S) lines broker, McClelland and Hine Inc. (MHI), promoted Lisa Barnes to the position of chief operating officer, and named Amicia Hine president and chief executive officer.

Barnes, who holds the CPCU, Are and AU professional insurance designations, has been in the industry for 35 years and with MHI for 26 years. She is an active member of the industry associations, AAMGA and NAPSLO, and formerly served on the board of directors for the Alamo Chapter CPCU.

Hine started her career with MHI in 1994 and has held various positions throughout the company. She currently is legislative chair and board member of the Texas Surplus Lines Association (TSLA) and serves on the legislative committee for NAPSLO.

In addition to San Antonio, MHI has offices in Dallas, Houston and Atlanta, Ga.

Crystal & Company hired David House as an executive director in its National Sales and Marketing department, Steven Langlinais as a director in its Risk Control department and Sarah Price as a director in its Specialty Products Group. All three are based in Houston.

House is responsible for growing and managing a broad range of upstream, midstream, and downstream domestic and foreign energy companies.

He has more than 10 years of insurance experience. He previously worked at Lockton Companies, as part of the Marine and Energy division. Before that, House was part of Worthman’s Energy and Environmental Practice Group. He began his insurance career as an account executive for Zurich.

Langlinais’ main areas of expertise include oil/gas drilling, pipeline and refining, heavy construction, and lean manufacturing.

He has more than 20 years of experience working in quality-control, environmental and health and safety for both land and marine operations. Prior to joining Crystal & Company, Langlinais worked for Lyondell Citgo Refining, Greene’s Energy Group, Knight Oil Tools and Honeywell Aerospace. He is a member of the American Society of Safety Professionals, the American Industrial Hygiene Association and the National STEPS Network.

Price specializes in placing complex environmental insurance programs. She has 18 years of experience in partnering with public and private organizations to provide alternative solutions for existing environmental issues.

Prior to joining Crystal, she worked as vice president at Oxford Insurance Services, an environmental broker at Burns & Wilcox, and as an environmental underwriter for both AIG and ACE.

A geologist, Price began her career as a consultant for the environmental industry.

She holds the Environmental Risk Management (ERM) designation.

The Insurance Council of Texas (ICT) awarded Lyndell Haigood, former regional vice-president for governmental relations at State Auto, with the 2017 Raymond Mauk Leadership Award.

Haigood is the 20th recipient of the award, which was presented in Austin at ICT’s 25th annual Mid-Year Property and Casualty Symposium. It is ICT’s highest honor and is intended to bestow recognition on those who have made a significant contribution to of the Texas property and casualty insurance industry

Haigood has served on ICT’s board of directors, the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association (TWIA) board, and was president of the Association of Fire and Casualty Companies in Texas (AFACT) and chair of the AFACT Legislative Committee before retiring in 2015.

Insgroup Inc. added Timothy Thomas as a vice president in its Employee Benefits Practice in Houston.

Thomas will focus on delivering high quality employee benefit programs to his clients. He will also serve as a mentor for other team members.

Thomas brings over 30 years’ experience in the insurance industry in both employee benefits and property/casualty insurance. Most recently, Thomas was a senior consultant with Gallagher Benefit Services; prior to that he was vice president of Sales at Alliant Insurance Services.

He holds designations for both Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) and Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU).

Michael D. Morris of Baton Rouge has been reappointed to the Louisiana Workers’ Compensation Advisory Council. Morris is an attorney and chief executive officer of the Louisiana Home Builders’ Association. He serves as a representative of self-insured industries in Louisiana.

The Workers’ Compensation Advisory Council monitors and reports to the governor and the legislature on the implementation and administration of laws pertaining to workers’ compensation claims.
