Chesapeake Employers’ Insurance Company, a Towson, Md.-based provider of workers’ compensation insurance, has promoted Joan Adelman to vice president of legal services.
In her new role, Adelman is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the legal department, including supervision of attorneys and the department’s appellate practice. She also provides advice to all other Chesapeake departments on a range of insurance matters.
Prior to this position, Adelman served as assistant vice president of legal services. She initially joined Chesapeake Employers in 1998.
George J. Forrester, principal and senior vice president of the manufacturing division of AHT Insurance in Leesburg, Va., has been elected to the board of directors of RiskProNet International, a Menlo Park, Calif.-headquartered association of independent insurance brokers in North America.
Forrester, who joined AHT Insurance in 1996, brings more than 20 years of experience in insurance for manufacturing, construction and hospitality companies as well as specialized private financial institutions.
He has worked with trade associations, industrial engineers, American National Standards Institute committees and litigation advisers.
RiskProNet member firms have combined annual revenues of $548 million and more than $5.5 billion in annual written premium. Each RiskProNet member is an equal owner in the association, which gives the network the geographic diversity and shared knowledge base to serve clients with national, international or highly specialized exposures to risk.

Sullivan Insurance Group, a Worcester, Mass.-headquartered full-service insurance and risk management firm, has hired Lauren L. Deluca to its commercial lines department.
Deluca has worked in the insurance industry for 13 years, most recently at Insurance Marketing Agency. She is licensed in property and casualty in the state of Massachusetts and earned the designations of Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Associate in Personal Insurance (API) and Associate in General Insurance (AINS).

Rogers & Gray Insurance, a Kingston, Mass.-headquartered independent insurance agency, has hired Joe Rossi as a flood specialist.
Rossi formed the non-profit Marshfield Citizens Coastal Coalition (MCCC) in February of 2012, seeking stronger citizen representation of coastal issues. The MCCC began educating citizens on flood insurance and mapping issues, becoming specialists in citizen outreach. He continues to lead the MCCC, and he has presented to various communities, associations and other groups and organizations, simplifying complicated flood insurance issues and advocating for flood insurance legislation.
In 2014, he started Flood Insurance Services of America, a consulting firm specializing in helping clients reduce premiums as well as the challenges they face with compliance and mitigation. He is an Associate of National Flood Insurance (ANFI) and acquired his Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) certification in 2016, one of the highest certifications in the flood insurance industry.
He became a member of the board of directors for the National Flood Determination Association (NFDA) in January. This national board is the trade organization for producers of flood zone determinations. Going forward, the organization is moving toward becoming a hub for flood insurance information and reform.
Brown Thayer Shedd Insurance Agency (BTS Darien) has hired Ryan P. Garrity as senior vice president of its Darien, Conn., location.
In this role, Garrity joins BTS Darien President Edward D. Brown in co-managing day-to-day operations for the agency while assuming responsibility for expanding its private client base and growing its existing business.
These efforts will be furthered by the firm’s recent partnership with Cross Insurance, which provides current and future clients with expanded product and service offerings and is anticipated to help further the company’s growth, said Brown in a company press release.
Garrity has held a variety of sales positions in the insurance industry, most recently working for a private client group division of an insurance agency, providing risk management solutions for high-net-worth individuals and/or their businesses.
Prior to his insurance career, Garrity spent 17 years as a PGA Professional, including two summers as an assistant professional at Wee Burn Country Club in Darien and a few starts on the PGA Tour. Following his professional golf career, with a final role as director of golf at The Dye Preserve in Jupiter, Fla., he worked for an agency in Tequesta, Fla., focusing on the agency’s Private Country Club Division and a $150M town development project in Jupiter.
