Hub International Northeast (Hub Northeast), a subsidiary of Hub International Limited, has promoted executive vice president and chief financial officer (CFO), Michael Sabanos, to the newly created position of chief operating officer (COO). First Vice President Harsh Bhasin will succeed Sabanos as the region’s CFO.

As COO, Sabanos will work with Hub Northeast’s regional account servicing and account support teams to help manage client retention using the firm’s technology platforms and other resources.

He will be responsible for special projects and compliance with internal service standards and corporate initiatives. Sabanos will also continue to handle all M&A activity for the region.

An employee of Hub Northeast since 1996, Sabanos began his career at Deloitte and held various financial and operations positions in the insurance industry prior to joining Hub.

As the newly appointed CFO, Bhasin will oversee Hub Northeast’s Accounting Department and provide financial reporting to the region and to Hub’s corporate office. Prior to this promotion, Bhasin managed the region’s Premium Accounting unit as well as Hub’s Premium Finance program in the U.S. and Canada.

An employee of Hub Northeast since 1991, Bhasin began his career at ITC Limited, a hospitality company in India. He migrated to the U.S. in 1987 and worked for a New York-based hotel group prior to joining Hub.

Ames & Gough, an insurance broker and risk management team specializing in serving design professionals, law firms, associations and nonprofits and other professional service organizations, has appointed Brian C. Lynch as a senior broker. He is based in the firm’s McLean, Va., office.

Lynch, who has more than seven years of insurance industry experience, will be part of the Ames & Gough client service team in his new role. He will be responsible for providing insurance placement, renewal planning, carrier negotiations and related client support services.

“Brian joins us at a time when Ames & Gough is continuing to see steady growth,” said Dan Knise, president and CEO at Ames & Gough, in a company press release. “His experience in insurance placement and client service is a good fit with our brokerage operation as we continue to build on our client-focused capabilities and resources.”

Knise added in the release that going forward, the firm is seeking to continue expanding and building on its client-focused capabilities and resources.

Before joining Ames & Gough, Lynch was a vice president with Boston Insurance Brokerage Inc.

While there, he worked with a variety of property and casualty insurance companies on behalf of the firm’s clients.

He began his insurance career in 2009 as a managing producer in the property and casualty division at Paul Peters Insurance Agency Inc. in Falmouth, Mass.

Established in 1992, Ames & Gough has offices in Boston, Philadelphia, and Washington D.C.

JLT Specialty USA has appointed David Turner as vice president in its Financial Institutions Practice in New York.

The firm is a U.S. subsidiary of Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group plc. (JLT), a specialty-focused provider of insurance, reinsurance and employee benefits advice, brokerage and associated services.

Turner joins JLT as part of its growth strategy and continued expansion plans in the U.S. around key industry and product specialties.

In JLT’s Financial Institutions Practice, Turner will focus on the business development of investment managers and private equity firms.

He comes to JLT from Marsh & McLennan, where he served as vice president, responsible for initiating and cultivating new client relationships with senior executives in the financial institution industry.

EPIC Insurance Brokers & Consultants, a retail property, casualty brokerage and employee benefits consultant headquartered in San Francisco, Calif., has hired Melissa Delaney as a senior vice president in its Private Client Solutions Specialty Group.

Delaney will be based in the firm’s New York City office. In her new role, she will report to Craig de Gruchy, managing principal of EPIC. She will be responsible for client relations, management and production for EPIC’s Northeast Region Private Client Solutions team.

Delaney joins EPIC from HUB International, where she served as team leader in its Private Client Services division and was responsible for developing and maintaining risk management and personal insurance solutions for high-net-worth individuals and families.

Prior to this, Delaney was an assistant vice president responsible for business development and sales at Gallagher Bollinger Insurance. Dcer insurance career as a customer service representative for Chubb & Son.
