Rene van Winden has joined Lockton from Aon as a senior vice president and national energy property leader. He is based in Houston.
Van Winden previously spent more than a decade with insurance broker Aon, most recently as senior vice president in the onshore energy team in Houston. He has also worked with Aon and Willis in London, and with Aon in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
Dallas-based BenefitMall appointed Todd Slawter as senior vice president of its benefit sales team.
Slawter is responsible for all insurance sales and service including group, self-funded, senior and individual in offices located in 11 states serving 32 markets.
Additionally, he will continue to manage the growth of BenefitMall’s Account Services Division.
Slawter began his career at CIGNA Healthcare, where he spent 10 years in various sales and management roles. Prior to joining BenefitMall, he was senior vice president and national head of distribution for Aetna.
Former long-time Chubb executive Dino E. Robusto assumes the roles of CNA chairman and chief executive officer on Nov. 21, succeeding Thomas F. Motamed, who is retiring after eight years in those positions.
The succession plan, which was announced last year, sees one former Chubb executive replacing another at the helm at CNA.
Motamed joined CNA in 2009 as chairman and CEO after 31 years with Chubb. He was vice chairman and chief operating officer when he left Chubb.
Robusto had been with Chubb for 29 years, beginning in 1986 as a commercial lines underwriter. He was elected executive vice president of Chubb and president of commercial and specialty lines in January 2014 after serving as president of personal lines and claims from 2011 through 2013.
Robusto retired from Chubb about a year ago in anticipation of assuming his CNA position.
Insurance broker and risk advisor Marsh hired Rich Drab as CEO of Dovetail Insurance, which provides insurance technology services tailored to the U.S. small commercial market.
Drab is based in Chicago and will report to Kevin Tobin, president of Marsh’s Insurance Services Group.
Drab brings to Dovetail more than 25 years of leadership, consulting, and technology experience, primarily focused on the insurance industry.
He joins from IBM, where he most recently served as a partner in its Global Business Services practice. Prior to joining IBM in 2012, Drab held several leadership roles at Rosetta, Sapient and Accenture.
Marsh is a wholly owned subsidiary of Marsh & McLennan.
All Risks Ltd. added Bryan McCalister as a broker in the firm’s Dallas office. He will concentrate industrial casualty risks and focus on opportunities throughout Texas, specifically the Dallas/Fort Worth area and western Texas, as well as Oklahoma and Arkansas.
McCalister has seven years of experience in the insurance industry and was formerly a broker at U.S. Risk Insurance Group Inc. in Dallas.
He is a member of the Independent Insurance Agents of Dallas, Independent Insurance Agents of Lubbock, Independent Insurance Agents of Tarrant County, and National African American Insurance Association.
Additionally, McCalister was the 2011 Robert Wormley Scholarship recipient.
Louisiana-based workers’ compensation insurer, LWCC, announced that Mike DeLaat retired as senior vice president and chief financial officer, and that two new members joined the company’s executive team — Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Gretchen Hofeling and Chief Actuary Angela McGhee.
DeLaat joined LWCC’s executive team in 2000 as vice president of technological services. He was promoted to vice president and CFO in 2004, and senior vice president and CFO in 2009.
DeLaat retires with more than 40 years of experience in the insurance and financial services industry.
Hofeling has more than 15 years of experience in the insurance industry, and has held financial leadership positions in workers’ comp companies for more than 10 years. She was most recently vice president, corporate controller for Employer Holdings Inc.
McGhee has nearly 20 years of experience in ratemaking, reserving and other actuarial responsibilities. Previously, she was employed with the National Council on Compensation Insurance Inc. (NCCI) as practice leader and senior actuary.
