New Day Underwriting Managers LLC, a Hamilton, N.J.-based specialty intermediary of environmental and construction related professional liability insurance coverages, has named Jesilyn Ippolito as a consultant within its construction group.

In this role, she will be responsible for providing New Day’s agents and clients nationwide with environmental and construction related professional liability risk management and policy information.

Ippolito initially entered the insurance industry in 1996 with the Security Indemnity Insurance Co. and has since served as an account executive at HSBC/HFC and an underwriter at Patriot National Inc./RCA Insurance in Wall, N.J.

JLT Re North America Inc. (JLT Re), a global provider of reinsurance broking and consultancy, has appointed John Speckman as senior vice president in Stamford, Conn.

In this role, Speckman will be part of the Workers’ Compensation and Programs practice groups and will focus on the continued expansion and development of JLT Re’s new business initiatives.

Prior to joining JLT Re, he served as executive vice president of business development at Atlas General Insurance Services, where he was responsible for sourcing general agency, distribution and carrier partnerships while building a nationwide platform for Atlas’ product and service distribution.

Before that, he served as a director at Aon Benfield, specializing in general casualty with a focus on specialty programs, workers’ compensation and professional liability.

CNA has appointed John Kaas to senior vice president and Mid-Atlantic zone officer.

In this role, Kaas will be responsible for advancing the strategic direction of the territory, which includes CNA’s branches in Baltimore, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Richmond and Washington D.C. He will also directly manage CNA’s Philadelphia branch office located in Radnor, Penn.

Kaas will report to Tim Szerlong, president of worldwide field operations.

The firm will begin a search to fill the Florida branch vice president role immediately, Szerlong said in a company press release.

“John will work closely with Rob Hubner, Southern zone officer, to ensure a smooth transition for the team and our Florida agents,” Szerlong said in the release.

HUB International, a Chicago, Ill., headquartered global insurance brokerage, has announced that Charles Brophy has been promoted to president of HUB International’s East Region, spanning from Maine to the mid-Atlantic region. His appointment will be effective Jan. 1, 2017.

He will also remain in his current role as president and CEO of HUB International New England LLC following the promotion.

This comes as HUB International New England LLC also announced that Brophy was recently named as the 2016 Insurance Professional of the Year by the Insurance Library Association of Boston.

The Insurance Professional of the Year Award is presented each year to an individual who demonstrates leadership and respect for the insurance industry.
