Specialty program manager Victor O. Schinnerer & Company Inc. promoted Brian Hanuschak to president. Hanuschak will be based in the firm’s Chevy Chase, Maryland, headquarters and report to Rob Byler, CEO of The Schinnerer Group.

In his new role, Hanuschak will be responsible for leading operations and developing business across the firm’s range of specialty insurance products.

Hanuschak previously served as managing director of sales and distribution for the company. Prior to joining Schinnerer, Hanuschak was managing director in the treaty department at Guy Carpenter.

Law firm Hogan Lovells announced that former Maryland Insurance Commissioner Therese Goldsmith has joined the firm’s Health practice and the Insurance Industry sector group as a partner in the Baltimore office.

Goldsmith was appointed as Maryland’s insurance commissioner in May 2011 by then-Governor Martin O’Malley. She served in that role until this past January when newly elected Governor Larry Hogan took office and appointed Al Redmer, Jr. as the new commissioner.

Hogan Lovell is a global law firm with more than 40 offices around the world.

Erie Indemnity announced that Marcia A. Dall, executive vice president and chief financial officer, is leaving the company in October.

The company said Dall has accepted the position of executive vice president and chief financial officer for Churchill Downs, a publicly traded company that operates racetracks and casinos. Greg Gutting, ERIE’s current senior vice president, will serve as interim CFO.

Erie Indemnity provides management services to the member companies of the Erie Insurance Group in Erie, Pennsylvania.

Starr Companies appointed John D. O’Neil as regional vice president for the Northeast Region. O’Neil will be located in Starr’s Boston office, where he will be responsible for the field leadership in the Northeast. O’Neil will report to Robert Cruz, national branch officer, director of Field Operations, in New York.

O’Neil has been in the insurance industry for 17 years and is experienced in program and aggregated distribution across various lines of property/casualty coverage.

Engle-Hambright & Davies Inc. (EHD), an independent agency in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, hired Matthew Swanick as Construction and Surety Practice group leader in the Commercial Department.

Swanick most recently worked for Wells Fargo Insurance Services, where he established and maintained the surety bond department for the Mid-Atlantic/East Coast region.

EHD also announced the hiring of Debra A. Welsh as clinical director of health, safety and wellness. Before joining EHD, Welsh was most recently managing principal/health strategist at ECO Health Strategies.

Greene & Associates, an East Aurora, New York-based underwriting manager and wholesale broker for excess and surplus lines coverage, promoted Jennifer L. Greene to president.

She first joined the firm in 2000 and has served in various operational divisions including underwriting, producer and company relations, and strategic planning. Her father, William H. (Bill) Greene III, will retain the title of CEO and add chairman to his title. Bill Greene founded Greene & Associates almost 30 years ago.

Beecher Carlson Insurance Services LLC, a specialized large account brokerage and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Brown & Brown Inc., hired Jason Ross as casualty client executive, Northeast Casualty Practice.

Ross will work out of the New York office and report to Northeast Casualty Broker leader, Joe Roberta.

Ross worked at Zurich Insurance for nearly 10 years prior to joining Beecher Carlson and has underwritten clients across multiple industries.

Brit Ltd., a global specialty insurer and reinsurer based in London, hired Kent Stepanishen as senior vice president to launch a new Inland Marine team for Brit Global Specialty USA.

Stepanishen comes to Brit from Catlin, where he held the position of director of U.S. Inland Marine. He will be based in Brit’s New York office and report to Noreen Metcalfe, who runs Brit’s Property business in the U.S.

The MEMIC Group, a workers’ compensation insurer based in Portland, Maine, promoted Rebecca LeClair to information technology director of Application Development where she will oversee the maintenance and enhancement of operational information systems.

LeClair joined MEMIC in 1999 as manager of IT Operations and in 2005 was promoted to director of IT Operations.

In addition, MEMIC promoted Steve Hughes to LeClair’s former position of IT Operations director. Hughes joined MEMIC in 2010 as senior network engineer and in 2013 was promoted to IT network operations manager.
