The Hartford named A. Morris “Mo” Tooker as executive vice president and chief underwriting officer for the company’s property/casualty insurance businesses.

Tooker will oversee underwriting across The Hartford’s Small Commercial, Middle Market, Large Commercial and Personal Lines segments.

Tooker brings 23 years of experience with General Reinsurance, a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Inc. In his most recent role as president of Gen Re, Tooker was responsible for the company’s global property/casualty reinsurance business. He resigned from Gen Re in January.

The Delaware Department of Insurance announced the appointment of attorney Hardy Drane as deputy commissioner.

Drane was a lawyer with a major Wilmington, Delaware, law firm for almost 30 years, where his practice focused on insurance and environmental law. He also previously served as deputy attorney general representing the Delaware Department of Insurance.

Donegal Group Inc. in Marietta, Pennsylvania, announced that its Board of Directors has appointed Kevin G. Burke as Donegal Group’s president and chief executive officer.

Burke succeeds Donald H. Nikolaus, who returned from his temporary medical leave of absence on July 16. Nikolaus will continue to serve as chairman of the Board of Donegal Group and as president and CEO of a number of Donegal Group’s subsidiaries.

Burke has been serving as acting CEO of Donegal Group since last October when Nikolaus went on a temporary medical leave. Burke previously was executive vice president and chief operating officer at Donegal Group.

The Insurance Library Association of Boston selected John A. Myers as the 2015 Insurance Professional of the Year Award winner. This year’s award ceremony will take place on Oct. 16 at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel.

Myers is chairman of the Board for the Associated Industries of Massachusetts Mutual Insurance Companies (A.I.M. Mutual), a workers’ compensation insurer in Burlington, Massachusetts, and served as the company’s chief executive for 19 years.

ACE Group said Jim Fults has been named senior vice president and head of Product Management and Analytics at ACE Private Risk Services, its high net worth personal insurance business.

Fults joined ACE as vice president, Product Management, for the auto and umbrella insurance lines of business, coming from Fireman’s Fund’s personal insurance business, which ACE acquired on April 1, 2015.
