Encino, Calif.-based Republic Indemnity Company of America has named Allen Goodwin president. He succeeds Dwayne Marioni, who retired earlier in early March.
Goodwin joined the company in 2011 as senior vice president of California operations. Prior to joining Republic Indemnity, Goodwin was vice president of underwriting and insurance operations at Advantage Workers Compensation Insurance Co., and held senior positions at the Workers’ Compensation Fund and The Leavitt Group.
Republic Indemnity specializes in workers’ compensation insurance throughout the Western U.S., and is a member of the Great American Insurance Group out of Cincinnati, Ohio.
San Francisco, Calif.-based NORCAL Mutual Insurance Co. has named Andre Stewart senior vice president of underwriting on custom accounts.
Stewart will be responsible for new business growth with a focus on multistate and national accounts, program business, unique risks and integrated delivery systems.
Stewart has more than 25 years of experience in the medical professional liability industry. He comes from The Doctors Co., where he was chief underwriting officer and president of TDC Specialty. Prior to that, he was a vice president for CNA Insurance as part of its medical professional liability practice.

Nautilus Insurance Group in Scottsdale, Ariz., has announced two changes to its management team.
Michael J. Kilgas, who has served as senior vice president of claims, will become senior vice president of special projects and operations. Kilgas has been with Nautilus since 1987, and has more than 37 years of experience in the insurance industry.
Thomas Joyce is joining Nautilus as senior vice president of claims. He has 30 years of claims experience.
Nautilus is an excess and surplus and specialty lines carrier and is comprised of Nautilus Insurance Co. and Great Divide Insurance Co., member companies of W. R. Berkley Corp.
Los Angeles, Calif.-based The Cooperative of American Physicians Inc. has named Hammon P. Acuna senior vice president of business development.
Acuna will direct the activities and performance of all business development activities, including CAP business development, membership development, underwriting and services and the peer review unit.
Acuna has 26 years of experience in medical professional liability. Acuna has served as CAP’s vice president in membership services for the past seven years. Prior to CAP, Acuna worked at SCPIE Holdings Inc., which was later acquired by The Doctors Co.
CAP also has offices in San Diego, Orange County, Sacramento and Palo Alto.
Walnut Creek, Calif.-based Legacy Risk & Insurance Services LLC has named Drew Bolger a producer and vice president.
Bolger is focused on increasing the firm’s client base in the middle market.
Bolger most recently worked for Wells Fargo Insurance Services in San Francisco, where he focused on developing and providing risk management and insurance brokerage services for a range of companies, including businesses in the life science and technology industries. Prior to WFIS, Bolger worked as an account manager at Arthur J. Gallagher.
Legacy Risk provides a variety of products, including boiler and machinery, general liability, crime, cyber liability, property, employment practice liability and workers’ compensation.
Heffernan Insurance Brokers has named Seth Holmberg assistant vice president of health benefits in its Walnut Creek, Calif., office.
Holmberg will be responsible for business development for the employee benefits division.
Holmberg comes from an employee benefits general agent, where he spent three years working with benefit brokers, learning products and underwriting guidelines from various partners such as Aetna, Anthem, Cigna, California Choice, Health net and United Healthcare.
Walnut Creek-based Heffernan has California offices in San Francisco, Petaluma, Menlo Park, Los Angeles and Orange County, as well as in Portland, Ore., St. Louis, Mo., and Long Island and New York, N.Y.
San Juan Capistrano, Calif.-based King Insurance has named Andre DeGazon a senior professional liability underwriter and program manager.
DeGazon has 20 years of experience. He was formerly a professional liability senior underwriter with ELM Insurance.
King Insurance is a program manager specializing in manufactured housing, mobile home and RV parks, homeowners insurance and agent’s professional liability. The company has offices in San Juan Capistrano, Calif., and writes business in 28 states.
