Stuart Parker, currently chief operating officer at San Antonio-based USAA, has been named to succeed current CEO Joe Robles when he retires at the end of February 2015.
USAA Capital Corporation President Carl Liebert has taken over the role of chief operating officer.
In addition to COO, Parker also served as chief financial officer from 2012 to 2014, and previous to that position he led USAA’s Property and Casualty Insurance Group (P&C). He has been a USAA member for more than 30 years.
A distinguished graduate from the Air Force ROTC program, Parker entered the EURO-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training Program at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas, and became an instructor pilot flying T-38 aircraft. While at Sheppard, he also became a Wing Flight Examiner. Parker went on to graduate from aircraft commander school for the C-141 Starlifter and was stationed at Charleston, S.C. He flew the C-141 in combat missions during Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm.
As the new chief operating officer, USAA’s bank, investment, life and property/casualty companies, real estate company and member experience operations will report to Liebert.
Liebert has global business experience and deep consumer insights acquired through the senior leadership roles he held at companies including The Home Depot, Circuit City and General Electric.
Prior to joining USAA, he served as CEO of 24 Hour Fitness.
Liebert is a former U.S. Navy officer, and a 27-year USAA member. He served on USAA’s board of directors from 2011 to 2013.
Kenner, La.-based Lane & Associates Inc. announced that Marie Hohensee has joined the managing general agency as vice president of commercial underwriting.
Hohensee has more than 30 years of experience in commercial underwriting and was most recently the branch manager of Agency Management Corporation in Baton Rouge, La.
Hohensee holds the CIC designation and has been an active contributor to the insurance industry. She has served as president of the Insurance Professionals of Baton Rouge and as president of the Louisiana Surplus Line Association, and currently serves as a committee member of NAPSLO.
Lane & Associates Inc. was founded in 1985 by Mike Lane and is a managing general agent currently writing in Louisiana and Texas.
Commercial insurance brokers Aaron Endris and Bryan Parker joined the Swantner & Gordon branch office of Higginbotham in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Endris joins as manager of the bond department and Parker as an associate on the property/casualty insurance team, concentrating on the oil and gas and transportation industries.
Endris comes to Higginbotham from Mullis Newby Hurst LP with 10 years of experience in underwriting and agency management. As co-bond manager and account executive for Mullis, he helped lead a team that produced more than $8 million in bond premium. In 2012 and 2013, Mullis named Endris New Business Producer of the Year. He also held bond positions at Safeco Insurance Company and K&S Insurance Agency.
Endris is a certified Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist (CRIS). He is a member of the Associated General Contractors South Texas Chapter (AGC) and Associated Builders & Contractors Coastal Bend Chapter (ABC).
Parker started in insurance as an intern for Swantner & Gordon in 2008. Then he honed his production and management talents as a sales representative at Interstate Batteries of South Texas and as an area director at Young Life in Gregory-Portland.
Higginbotham has more than 20 offices across Texas. Swantner & Gordon merged with Higginbotham in 2010.
Jamie Stalcup has joined Texas-based independent insurance brokerage Roach Howard Smith & Barton as a personal client advisor for personal lines insurance sales in the agency’s Fort Worth office.
Stalcup began her insurance career in 2005 and has specialized in personal lines. As a personal client advisor she uses her experience to help individuals and families protect their assets by providing comprehensive solutions to home, auto and umbrella insurance coverage.
London-based Ascot Underwriting Ltd. appointed Banos Georgiou as chairman, Diana Gladwell as senior vice president, and Devin Lefebvre as vice president of Ascot Underwriting Inc. in Houston.
The team will report to John Flower, president and chief underwriting officer of Ascot’s Houston office.
The appointments are part of the plan for Ascot, a Lloyd’s Syndicate, to expand in the United States.
Andrew Brooks, chief executive officer of Ascot Underwriting Ltd., said Georgiou, Gladwell and Lefebvre “will further build our marine and energy liability capabilities and increase the scope of exploration and production package business written out of the Houston office.”
