FrankCrum, a national professional employer organization, added Rodney Vaughn as broker manager, responsible for increasing the company’s presence in Texas, and forging relationships with insurance agents and brokers.

Florida-based FrankCrum offers workers’ compensation insurance, payroll, human resources solutions and benefits to business owners.

The Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS) has named Tiffany O’Shea as the organization’s director of public affairs.

O’Shea brings 20 years of experience to IBHS, where she will lead media relations efforts, as well as other communications initiatives such as FORTIFIED, a suite of IBHS programs that provide hazard-focused construction standards that can lead to safer, stronger communities.

O’Shea most recently was an independent communications consultant; her clients included IBHS and a variety of other organizations representing smart building solutions, clean energy, technology, flood insurance stakeholders, and commercial development. She previously served as vice president for a high tech public relations agency, Lois Paul & Partners.

As director of public affairs for the American Insurance Association (AIA), O’Shea managed public affairs efforts in the southwest region including Texas, Colorado, New Mexico, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kansas and Wyoming. She led the insurance industry’s communications response to Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in Louisiana and Texas and the continued ongoing recovery in Louisiana.

Property and casualty insurance provider Zurich North America, based in Schaumburg, Ill., appointed Peter Hahn as head of predictive analytics.

Hahn comes to Zurich from McKinsey & Company Inc., where he led the underwriting service line for McKinsey’s North America insurance practice, and helped property/casualty carriers apply analytic techniques to improve their risk assessment, underwriting and pricing decisions.

In addition, Zurich Commercial Markets in North America named Patrick Healey head of its real estate division. He will be based in Schaumburg. Healey joined Zurich in 2011 as international practice leader for the East and South regions, and most recently served as head of international for commercial markets. He began his insurance career more than 10 years ago at ACE USA.

Lt. Donald McWhorter is the 2014 Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) Fraud Unit Employee of the Year.

McWhorter specializes in health care fraud investigations. He began his career as a patrol and tactical operations officer with the Lubbock Police Department. He was a criminal investigator for the former Texas Department of Human Resources for nearly 30 years, retiring in 2002 as deputy inspector general responsible for 125 employees investigating fraud statewide.

McWhorter joined the TDI Fraud Unit in 2002. He has served as lieutenant with the unit since 2009.

Spencer Educational Foundation named Brion Callori, senior vice president, manager of engineering and research at FM Global, as its new chairman. Callori, who has served on the foundation’s board since 2008, succeeds Peggy Accordino, vice president, director of risk management at National Financial Partners.

The foundation, established in 1979 to honor the late Robert S. Spencer, awards student scholarships and provides grants to further the education of risk management and insurance.

At FM Global, Callori has overall responsibility for the management and direction of the company’s loss prevention engineering services, scientific research and FM Approvals. He joined FM Global in 1979 as a loss control consultant.

W. R. Berkley Corp. named Wayne H. Carter III as president of Berkley Program Specialists.

Carter succeeds John Diem, who is retiring.

Carter has 35 years of experience in the property/casualty insurance industry in underwriting, risk management and distribution. Most recently, he served as the president and chief executive officer of a managing general underwriter and program administrator specializing in professional liability insurance programs.

Berkley Program Specialists is a program management company offering both admitted and non-admitted insurance support for commercial program administrators and in-house program managers with specialized insurance expertise.

The alternative markets division at Great American Insurance Group hired Tom Colosi as divisional vice president, group captives.

In this role with Great American, Colosi will lead the company’s existing group captive operation.

Colosi joins Great American from Sparta Insurance Co., where he served as senior vice president and chief underwriting officer. With nearly 27 years of professional experience, he has held a number of underwriting and management positions at The Hartford, Travelers and Kemper.
