Marsh & McLennan Companies Inc. has appointed Eddie Dunn as director, Military and Veteran Affairs.

In this role, Dunn will support the U.S. Veterans Talent Initiative that Marsh & McLennan announced last November. He will be responsible for managing the firm’s veteran recruitment strategy, matching qualified veteran talent to openings within the firm’s four operating companies – Marsh, Guy Carpenter, Mercer, and Oliver Wyman – and serving as a key point of contact for veteran hires.

Based in New York, Dunn will report to Marsh & McLennan Companies Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer Nicole Gardner and interim Head of Talent Acquisition Denise Nichols.

Dunn joins Marsh & McLennan from JP Morgan Chase, where, as senior vice president, Military and Veteran Affairs, he had responsibility for the firm’s 100,000 Jobs Mission strategy and program. The 100,000 Jobs Mission is a coalition of companies, including Marsh & McLennan Companies, that has pledged to hire veterans.

Starkweather & Shepley Insurance Brokerage Inc. has appointed Stephen Primiano as healthcare risk specialist. Primiano will be working out of Starkweather’s Westwood, Mass., location, where he will develop risk management strategies for hospitals, physician practices, assisted living communities, nursing homes, surgery centers and urgent care facilities.

Prior to joining Starkweather & Shepley, Primiano was most recently employed by HUB International in Wilmington, Mass., and the Northwestern Mutual in Burlington, Vt.

Headquartered in East Providence, R.I., Starkweather has additional branch offices in Rhode Island, Connecticut and Massachusetts.

Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company has appointed Mike Midgley to senior product director for healthcare professional liability. He is located in Fireman’s Fund’s New York office.

With over 20 years of health care and risk management experience, Midgley will be responsible for overseeing the company’s professional liability and related insurance products for healthcare accounts, including allied professionals, medical facilities and senior living facilities.

Midgley most recently worked in compliance, product development and risk management for 10 years at American International Group Inc. Prior to that, he held leadership roles at CNA HealthPro, Elmhurst Hospital Center and Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York.

Founded in 1863, Fireman’s Fund is based in Novato, Calif., and is a member of the Allianz Group.

Portland, Maine-based workers’ compensation carrier MEMIC has appointed Timothy Cook and Scott Meinke as senior production underwriters for its territories in Virginia and Maryland.

Cook brings 30 years of experience in the insurance industry to his new position. He is based in Virginia with responsibilities in Maryland and the District of Columbia as well.

Meinke brings 24 years of experience in the insurance industry as well as a significant workers’ compensation underwriting history in the Virginia, Maryland, and D.C. markets. In his new role, Meinke will develop business opportunities in those territories.

The MEMIC Group, a regional workers’ compensation insurer, includes parent company, Maine Employers’ Mutual Insurance Co., and MEMIC Indemnity Co., as well as MEMIC Casualty Co.

Insurance broker Lockton announced that Shannon Groeber has joined its Philadelphia operation as senior vice president, Global Technology & Privacy Practice.

She will provide customized insurance programs and advisory services in the areas of technology, network security and privacy liability.

Groeber has 10 years of experience in insurance brokerage and underwriting roles. Previously, Groeber served as vice president for Aon Financial Services Group in its Professional Risk Solutions group where she brokered customized errors and omissions programs focusing on network security, cyber liability and intellectual property.

Prior to that, she was a professional liability underwriting consultant with CNA.

Kenneth Jones has joined insurance broker Corporate Synergies of Mt. Laurel, New Jersey, as a senior vice president and producer. He will join the firm’s New York office.

Jones has several decades of experience in the New York metro market, particularly in the construction, real estate and manufacturing sectors.

Corporate Synergies is a group employee benefits and property/casualty insurance brokerage and consulting firm.

The Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS) has named Tiffany O’Shea as the organization’s director of public affairs.

O’Shea most recently was an independent communications consultant; her clients included IBHS and other organizations representing smart building solutions, clean energy, technology, flood insurance stakeholders, and commercial development. She previously served as vice president at Lois Paul & Partners, a public relations agency.
