Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance announced that Joseph A. Martin, the company’s current chief operating officer (COO) and senior vice president of marketing, has been selected after a nationwide search to serve as its next executive vice president and chief executive officer (CEO), beginning in January 2014.

Current CEO Jerry Canada will retire in December after holding the position for 11 years.

Martin has been employed with Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance since 1980. He holds both the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Chartered Life Underwriter (CFU) designations.

Martin is active in numerous industry committees and professional organizations. He also serves as chairman of the board of directors of Farm Bureau Bank, FSB.

Canada, originally from Charlotte County, Va., has served as executive vice president and CEO of Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance since October 2002.

The Independent Insurance Agents of Indiana Inc. (Indiana Big “I”) has installed its slate of officers for 2014.

Michael Anton, Jr., with Anton Insurance Agency Inc. in Chesterton, was elected president of the group.

President-elect is Kenan L. Schultheis, with Schultheis Insurance Agency Inc. in Evansville. Vice president-treasurer is Hugh M. McGowan, with McGowan Insurance Group in Indianapolis. Vice president – secretary is Michael D. Gilbert, with Old National Insurance in Indianapolis. Todd Jackson, with Jackson McCormick Insurance in Lebanon, is immediate past president. National director is Patrick J. O’Connor, with City Securities Corp. – Insurance Division in Indianapolis.

These individuals will assume their offices beginning on Jan. 1, 2014.

Chicago-based CNA Financial Corp. appointed Sheila Chapman vice president of reinsurance placements. In this role, Chapman will provide strategic leadership and direction in the negotiations required for reinsurance agreements.

Chapman brings to CNA more than 15 years of experience in the reinsurance industry. She most recently served as global head of reinsurance asset management for Zurich Insurance Group.

Oswald Cos. named Terri Drushel senior client executive of global accounts for its property/casualty division.

Drushel has more than 20 years of P/C insurance experience, including several years at Marsh, and her most recent position as vice president of Hylant Group.

Cleveland, Ohio.-based and employee-owned Oswald is a member of Assurex Global, an association of privately held insurance brokers.

Caledonia, Mich.-based Acrisure LLC recently announced three executive moves.

Don Collins was named chief operating officer of Acrisure.

Dan Mannes was promoted to executive vice president of Acrisure’s business outsourcing services sales, which specializes in payroll, benefits administration and human resource outsourcing solutions.

Andrew Schutt was named president of The Campbell Group, a division of Acrisure.

Acrisure is a privately held insurance and benefits agency. The Campbell Group is a full-service insurance firm also based in Caledonia, Mich.

Kristin Taylor Geisler has joined St. Paul, Minn.-based Safenet Commercial Insurance Agency as senior vice president. Geisler has many years of experience in different fields including financial services, insurance and risk management.

Safenet is led by President Judi Kasner, along with Geisler. The agency focuses solely on providing commercial insurance to clients in the state of Minnesota.

Great American Insurance Group, based in Cincinnati, Ohio, promoted Jane Kornesczuk to divisional executive vice president of its Executive Liability Division (ELD).

Kornesczuk joined the company in 1990. She has responsibility for all ELD underwriting groups and regional offices in Chicago, New York, Princeton and Toronto, along with the division’s marketing functions.

Great American’s Executive Liability Division is based in Schaumburg, Ill.

Springfield, Ill.-based Horace Mann Educators Corp. named Stephen P. Cardinal to lead its property/casualty business as executive vice president. Cardinal succeeds Thomas C. Wilkinson, who will retire at the end of the year.

Cardinal joined Horace Mann in 2008 as executive vice president, marketing, and has more than 20 years of experience in the insurance and financial services industry. His career has included positions of increasing responsibility at MetLife, Allstate and Countrywide Insurance Services.

William J. Caldwell, Jr. joined the company in the newly created role of senior vice president, personal lines. With more than 20 years of insurance industry experience, Caldwell joins Horace Mann from QBE North America.

Managing general agency J.M. Wilson has added Gina Fee as branch manager in Westerville, Ohio. Fee will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Westerville office and staff, and foster growth and development of theagent base in Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia, Virginia and Pennsylvania.

Fee brings with her 15 years of insurance industry experience. She began her career with State Auto Insurance as a personal lines underwriter. She also has worked for Nationwide Insurance.

Fee has her Associates in Personal Lines (API) designation and is currently in pursuit of her Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation.
