Marsh, the insurance broking division of N.Y.-based Marsh & McLennan Cos., appointed Brenda Shelly as the firm’s new U.S. directors and officers liability (D&O) product leader. Shelly, who has relocated from San Francisco to New York, succeeds Tripp Sheehan, who was recently named Marsh’s U.S. financial institutions practice leader.

Most recently, Shelly was Marsh’s FINPRO growth leader for the Pacific North Partnership. During her career at Marsh, Shelly has held a variety of positions within its FINPRO practice, which specializes in financial and professional liability. She began her insurance career in 1986 as a management liability underwriting manager at Stewart Smith East.

J. Douglas Robinson, chief executive officer of the Utica National Insurance Group, has been elected 2013 chairman of the Insurance Information Institute (I.I.I.). He succeeds Gregory Ator, CEO of Bituminous Insurance Cos. The I.I.I. is an information organization for the insurance industry. It serves as an industry contact to the media, governments, regulatory organizations, universities and the public as a primary source of information, analysis and referral concerning insurance.

Utica National is headquartered in New Hartford, N.Y. and is among the top property/casualty insurance organizations in the country ranked by net written premium.

The Insurance Agents & Brokers of Pennsylvania announced Joseph Pastor, CEO of Barr’s Insurance in Oil City, Penn., has joined the association’s statewide board. The Insurance Agents & Brokers of Pennsylvania is a statewide association of independent insurance agents, delivering programs, products and services to more than 1,100 member agencies.

The Insurance Agents & Brokers of Pennsylvania is a partnership member of The Insurance Agents & Brokers (IA&B) organization. Other IA&B partnership members include the Delaware Association of Insurance Agents & Brokers and the Insurance Agents & Brokers of Maryland.

Buffalo, N.Y.-based insurance wholesaler Russell Bond & Co. Inc. appointed Les Dalmata as senior broker operating from the Utica, N.Y. area. His responsibilities include production of property, casualty, excess and environmental liability on a binding and brokerage basis. Dalmata has over 30 years of experience with regional E&S wholesalers as well as E&S and standard lines insurers.

Aon Risk Solutions, the global risk management business of Aon plc, announced the addition of Emily Oborski as senior consultant in the Pittsburgh office. In her new role, Oborski will provide strategic planning, compliance, financial analysis and data analytics consulting to large and mid-size clients. Prior to joining Aon, she served as project manager at EBenefits Solutions, responsible for performing data analysis and auditing to help clients identify compliance issues and achieve cost savings.

Insurance brokerage and risk management firm Integro appointed Nick Trent as a principal in its property practice. He will be based in the firm’s New York headquarters office. Trent brings to Integro 23 years experience in the global property insurance industry.

Trent comes from Marsh & McLennan, where he was most recently senior vice president and team leader of its property and international practice. Earlier, he served as senior vice president and global property leader for the Willis Risk Solutions’ New Jersey team.

Zurich in North America (ZNA) appointed Thomas Fioretti as chief risk engineering officer. He will be based in New York. Fioretti will be responsible for the ongoing development and delivery of risk engineering’s risk management and loss prevention services to customers of Zurich’s global corporate and North America commercial business divisions.

Fioretti joined Zurich in 2008 as senior vice president of operational transformation for North America commercial business, leading a team of 950 operations and premium audit professionals. In 2010, he became senior vice president of commercial markets. Prior to joining Zurich, Fioretti had a 20-year career with AIG beginning in 1988.

N.Y.-based Starr Companies appointed Jeffrey Hayman to the position of president of international insurance operations. Hayman will be responsible for the overall growth, profitability, distribution, and product offerings outside of the United States. Hayman has over 30 years of experience as an executive with leading insurance organizations.

Through its operating insurance companies, Starr provides property, casualty, and accident & health insurance products as well as a range of specialty coverages including aviation, marine, energy and excess casualty insurance.

The Cumberland Insurance Group, a mutual insurance company based in Bridgeton, N.J., announced three promotions. The company said Glenn Watkins was promoted from assistant vice president to vice president. Watkins has been with Cumberland Insurance since 2000. Kenneth Mailley was promoted from assistant vice president to vice president. Mailley has been with the company since 2000.

And Cheryl Oswald was promoted from assistant vice president to vice president. Oswald has been with Cumberland Insurance for more than 30 years, and as part of Chester County Mutual Insurance Company, which merged with Cumberland Insurance in 2000.

CMIC, a doctor-owned medical professional liability insurer serving New England, appointed healthcare veteran Denise Condron as senior loss prevention consultant. She is based in the company’s headquarters office in Glastonbury, Conn.

Condron brings 20 years of healthcare experience in both clinical and administrative roles to her position at CMIC. She most recently served as the administrative director of operations at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, Conn.
